WTB E39 540i Manual Conversion

You may be better to buy the e30 m60 off trademe, keep the parts you need and sell the rest.  By the time you bring in all the parts needed etc. Gearbox alone will be $2000+ factoring in freight, tax and duty.

Hmmm, I guess I was just hoping to get lucking and find someone with a 420G available. Not too keen on ripping apart an E30 for the gearbox.

Perhaps an adapter plate and a 6 Cyl gearbox will be an option.

Every man and his dog is looking for a 420g with v8 bellhousing.

Best way to do it would be to ship one in from overseas.

It will still work out cheaper than buying one in nz - if you can find one that is.

Ive never seen a E39 540i manual conversion kit in my life, you usually have to buy the whole car. Once you got the box you can adapt the rest, they do come up now and again or just import one like most do

I got mine from eBay in the states after going through half a dozen or so auctions to pick out the best one, then got it delivered to the kiwi shipping warehouse then they  shipped it over for me with another members gearbox as well, probably the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to do it. Although the US dollar isn't the best right now.

I looked at these when I was going to M60 my E30.

I found a 530i M60 V8 with a manual gearbox at Zebra once, so you can get lucky if you look around.

Hmmm, it seems a 420G may be not worth the trouble. 

For now, I just need a transmission to get my 540i running. I've sourced another auto transmission, so I'll just swap that in.

An adapter plate could be an option for a future project. I like the idea of a poor mans M5 build.

Also need to source some E39 clear corners and motorsport bumpers if anyone has some.
