Yes, no, maybe?  Depends what you want/need.

probably something I would do before listing my car for sale just to say "checked out at bmw" but otherwise i would just do my own oil change or do it somewhere else for half the price and not worry about the rest of the fluff.

"Excludes M vehicles"

Are X5M's "M vehicles"? I hope not but I suspect so.

Why not? They have the same engine as an m5

In the case of the original poster, no, as their car is an X5 3.0Si M-Sport, which is a completely different beast to an X5M.

He lists both his BMW "cars" as X5M's - their nomenclature is so unintelligible now that the casual observer can't tell what it means. I have no way of telling whether he made a mistake or not.

“The word car is believed to originate from the Latin word carrus or carrum ("wheeled vehicle"), or the Middle English word carre (meaning "two-wheel cart", from Old North French). ... It originally referred to any wheeled horse-drawn vehicle, such as a cart, carriage, or wagon.”

^ an oil and filter changed by the dealer is no different to an indy... It's the extras, if any, you could pay a dealer  premium for. (And you'd likely just go for it seeing as the car is already there - hence they whole point of this campaign).

Other person "I've just got a new truck"

Me "cool, what make is it, Kenworth, Freightliner, Mack..?"

Other person "It's a Ford Ranger"

Me "a Ute, you've just got a new Ute" walks away.

You could possily call a ute a car, as most of them still have car(t) springs in the back.

The X5M is more ‘car’ like then suv, jeep, Ponsonby tractor with it’s lowered suspension, low profile tyres and the s63 from the M5 car, barge, whip.

Might’ve been called a car by someone who’s native tongue isn’t English.

Point is, no need to split hairs over what someone calls something with 4 wheels that goes broom broom.
