M62 Vanos Solenoid Brands

Recommended Posts

Looking to get 2 new vanos solenoids for an M62TU engine to clear a Vanos code and fix a rough cold idle.

Only place I can find in NZ is BMW itself, which wants $400 each.

I can get them cheaper from the likes of FCP for around $280, but I have come across other brands such as Vaico and Gates selling them for around $170. These are some of the alternative brands sold on ECS, Schmiedmann and Pelican etc.

Has anyone had any experience using these brands for vanos solenoids?

Any advice appreciated

I'm not sure. How would I find that out?

I actually misread your post. If  I can get OEM, I get OEM, but I also have no problem with buying the cheapest possible part sometimes and  seeing  how I go. For $60 from  Rockauto+shipping,  I'd  get that Ultra-Power  and  see how I  go, tbh. The price  difference  is too huge not to try (for me.)

2001 E39 530i should be M54B30 unless Boston has another project
