Removal of overspray

Recommended Posts

Hi Team, I have noted some silver overspray on the textured  black bumper trim from a previous respay on my front bumper.

What is the best way to remove this?

Spot light covers also had some, have cleaned those up wit ha clay and re-spray. The textured surface of the trim needs a different apporach....

A few options

1. green scotchbrite, should do minimal damage to textured plastic trim but if its light overspray should remove it

2. turps on a rag/ with the scotchbrite. Turps isnt a strong solvent for car paint but if it is poorly adhered it will remove.

3. last resort solvent - sparing use of lacquer paint thinner

4. get bumper black flexible paint and spray in light coats to recolour trim

5. get another bit of trim

Thanks, trying to avoid  4 and 5 - i had doscounted them for now as last resort.

given texture of the trim and coverage of paint option 2 and 3 might be best

Search youtube, some guy had a trick with adding bog to the surrounding area which allowed him to sand down the overspray and keep the rest in tact.. something along those lines.
