Couldn't resit it, will be a big money pit no doubt but I do love them.

Excellent, John!  Is the bodywork mostly done?

I see it has a half cage in it.  What's the drivetrain going to be - and what are you going to build it as?

If you don't already have a copy, Gary Bridger's 'Hey Charger!' will be required reading.  I met Gary a couple of years ago at a swap meet near Pukekohe, we was a very nice bloke.

More pics required.

At this stage the Engine and trans will be 3rd Gen Hemi with a 5 speed auto, maybe a T56 but I see this as more of a cruiser. I have Garys book, great read. I will most likjely do a rack and pinion conversion and some for of big brake upgrade. Rear end is a Dana 60 so big HP will be no trouble. I has had some tin worm and it is in the process of having new sheet metal put into the floors. Comes with Grill, Dash, door cards etc.

Not going to modernise it?

Friend of mine is just finishing off his 2 owner 69 Camaro with a 600hp LS3 from a Pontiac G8 (Holden).

Huge amount of work done in the US while we were at the Embassy. Car might already be back in NZ. Nelson based.

Yes will likely have a Gen3 Hemi V8 and rack and pinion steering. 69 Camaro's are lovely looking cars, like the E Body Mopars one of the best looking muscle cars ever. I personally think the Charger is the best looking Aussie Muscle car but do have a soft Spot for XB Falcon Coupes and A9X Torana Hatch backs.

I have looked at the bolt in front ends, would need an A body version though.  Went through a lot of this with my old Charger and after a lot of research decided this was the kit to go for. https://www.hemiperformance.com.au/shop/power-assist-rack-pinion-steering-conversion-kit-from-manual-steering-box.html

How can you own a charger and not put a 440 in it?

So much bragging rights.

Modern Hemi makes more power and is a HEMI!

If you slap 2 of them inline its straight 8 and retains muscle car status. Im sure it will easily fit.

Subbed.  Great to see another charger being restored / modded.
I started a VJ Charger; brought in a 5.7 Hemi from USA for it then sold it all. Possibly one of my bigger regrets!

Well at least it's not LS ?

Nice project, is that yours sitting next to it too?

Have you had any dealings with Mike B. from NW Auckland? A lot of knowledge and contacts for parts.

I'm pretty sure the Charger is still the most successful touring car in NZ.

I have this VG, in the process of stripping down engine. 245 and 30 thou over. Managed to find a Hemi 6 4bbl manifold so will go Holley Sniper EFI (at this stage). And re gear from 3.23 to 3.7.

No not mine next to it. Sorry dont know Mike B. I really like VG's classic shape the EFI options sounds great let me know how that works out. I have been offered a rebuilt 265 and it will be a whole lot cheaper than the V8.
