Is there any one out there with one of these kits in NZ? https://mthire.com.au/products/dm11-a1458-bmwc for hire?

Can probably butcher up something similar, but anyone have the real deal and rents it out?

The guy that’s rebuilding an E46 (I think) M3 from close to scratch has built his own and might lend it out? I’ll try dig up the post, he did it with his father who appears to be somthing of an engineering genius.

Is this the thread you’re thinking of?

Yes, thanks, in particular this Post shows the extraction tool, and a few posts later he shows them using a hydraulic press to reinsert them, I suspect the OEM tool allows the job to happen with the subframe in situ though, where as his required complete removal.

I have sleeves and a kit like that for an e39 front bushings. There are eBay kits too for cheap that should last one or two uses without issue ?

edit. I bought the bmw part for the sleeves, but I’ve read of people having good luck with exhaust piping for sleeves too. Nothing wrong with that setup either. There is a good write up for this on the beisan systems page for an e39 bushing but it should be very similar to that setup you linked.

Anyone had their average fuel consumption widget not work? it just reports 0.1l/100km. Reset the trip odo, have done a few hundred k's, still 0.1. Everything else works, no error messages... It know how much its using as the instantaneous widget works, and it obviously knows how many k's its done, but wont populate this doofa?

FWIW - Reset it by disconnecting battery for another job, and its fixed :D

Morning all,

My 97 E36 M3 radiator is damaged, it's not leaking but the performance would have to be compromised.

As I'm about to order some parts from the US, should I be adding a new radiator to my US order ?

or is there a recommended NZ company I should look at.

As always I'm looking to at least update/upgrade so full alloy is on the table, but I'm not looking at spending $1000 US

If you've been through this process your help would be appreciated

Cheers Mark

I got a rad from Silverdale Radiators. Fast delivery - looks to be a quality product.

Check the cost of shipping one from the US.

Let me know what you're planning before you pull the trigger. I also need a new one.

Looking to finish off my engine bay restoration but I'm stumped as to which radiator to buy.

Attached is my current one inside my M528i E28

I think one of those switches is a temp switch for the aircon radiator fan...I'm not sure about the other one...what replacement radiator will accomodate these sensors?

also do all radiators just have the expansion tank nipple you have to screw in yourself?

TIA

What economy should we expect from a 1997 E36 318Ti automatic?

I didn't expect it to be anything like as good as the 318i manual, but it is much, much worse. :(  66 litres used in 650km.

Average on fuelly.com Is 9.6 L/100km. A couple of them have been repowered though! ;)

I guess ours isn't quite so bad by comparison... 10.1(ish) L/100km.
That's a spot check on economy though so I'll keep an eye on it. ICVs and so on can make a difference.

+1 for Silverdale Radiators. Good price and of OEM quality. Ran for about a year so far with no worries at all. as said, sourcing one from the states might be a pain due to shipping/warranty/duty.

When do you think NZ companies will wake up

Well, they can't do anything about the GST but BMW's margins are a joke, only for the gullible or naive.

The problem is a rising tide lifts all boats. A "specialist" wanted NZ$200 for a used one with over 140k kms on it. How about $50 (or a 100k warranty)?
