The Bimmersport Dyno Thread

Recommended Posts

Guest Andrew

A new sticky thread.

Post up your engine power/torque [measured at the wheels] and 1/4 mile times.

Must be accompanied with Dyno graph and drag slip times. Please convert to kW and trap times to kph

List will constantly be updated. Right now i'm just going off the top of my head on some powers so we will correct the list as it gets updated by members.

Darren [sR20DET] - E30/240 kW (?) 1/4 ET: (?)

Glenn [E30323Ti] - E30/2JZ-GTE - 218 kW (?) 1/4 ET: (?)

Riley-{drifty340}-E30/1UZFE V8 -208kw 1/4 ET (?)

Andrew - E30/M42 Turbo - 190 kW (?) 1/4 ET: 13.99 (with car problems and much less power)

Atta [CrazyArab] E36/S50B30 - 172.3 kW 1/4 ET: (?)

Cain [cainchapman] E34/m60 4.0 - 172 kW 1/4 ET: 14.78

Andrew - E30/m20 2.5 - 138 kW 1/4 ET: (?)

Graham [bravo] - e30 m20b25 SC - 134kw 1/4 ET: (?)

Tim [bumpstop325] E30/m30 3.5 - 133 kW 1/4 ET: (?)

Gus - E30/m20 2.5 - 111 kW 1/4 ET: (?)

2002 - 2002/m10 2.0 - 72 kW 1/4 ET: (?)

I might be in the running for the lowest power, don't know 1/4 mile times - drag racing is for people who can't turn corners

Engine is stock 2L M10 with E30 318 fuel injection & Link (Go faster bits on order)

Can this version of invision utilise the garage function within your user profile? If so, drew could you impliment it, and have everyone on the list put their info there with a link to it in the stickied post.

ie: info there could include dyno plots, mod lists, a description of the car?

Does the dyno sheet say SAE corrected?

263bhp at the rear wheels...also on the Dynapak

Thats about 196kw isnt it (multiply bhp by .7457) ?

Thats about what im budgeting for on my conversion

Yes they're SAE corrected

Dynapak

That means they are an attempt at flywheel hp - so they do not mean anything in terms of rwhp.

so the figure we got at Petone arent actual rwhp? They are some corrected figure thats massaged to figure power loss through the g/box and diff?

done 15.37 .

88 535i with hartge head etc .

maybe around 220hp flywheel on a good day .

stock should be 211hp .

this motor had stuffed rings etc .

Essentially yes -

For e.g Martyn claims 197 rwkw - which is WAY more than an m3 puts out at the rear wheels. It would be more like 165 kW at the wheels for a 740 auto

hey whats the figure to change kw to hp??

apparenty my m3 is 210kw at the engine so whats that in hp and also what percentage is lost theough the drive train ??

hp = kw/.75

So yours is around 300hp at the flywheel.

Drivetrain loss anwhere between 15 and 30%.

So if you read through all the drivell the key is the DIN standard is reliable, SAE has had so many changes and is based on "non true" values e.g. not real pressure so forget the outmoded imperial crap and get with the metric program that has been in place for 50 years. and based on units establised by scientests over 150 years ago. Phyiscs does not lie.

Fly wheel power is only of value to engine builders

Rear wheel power is relevant to a specific car/ drive line

For the list 135.1 kW at the wheels M52 B28 in a 95 328

AGREEDS - lets not see any SAE estimated HP values.

has anyone on here heard of a turbo kit for the s50 engine in a right hand drive m3????

im thinking of shelling out for a supercharger kit from active autowerk but only because of a lack of room for a turbo with the steering rack so close to the exhuast manifold and all.

id like over 400 ponies and im told the standard bottom end on my engine is plenty strong enough.

RHD M3's still have the S50, son.

Bore spacing and head port gap is the same for S50 / M50 though.

i did see a right hand drive kit on active but it only said it would fit a 325 or 328 correct me if im wrong but are these not "M" blocks, if the port spacing is the same on the m50 block to the s50 like mine, would i be correct in thinking it would fit my s50 engine aswell.

maybe i should just buy the supercharger!?!?
