(but be warned, I'll be on the insurance company side!)

I'm sure lots of people out there try to screw insurance companies, as long as they pay out the genuine ones its all good, like me :-)

PS. It really is a problem when you cant defrost your windowscreen

So c'mon tell us about the tips and tricks of getting insurance to pay up.

Which company are you with? Any problems when claiming, being delayed etc.?

I work for a specialist finance company that works with health professionals.

Many companies actually lose money on their car insurance portfolios, once they take into account the costs of running the place. The only way many insurance companies usually make money is through investment returns.

And get this... the AA reckons 1 in 4 insurance claims is partially or fully fraudulent.

Its obvious that they would invest the money, as their stack they give compensation from cant just be sitting in a corner depreciating coz of inflation!

im with Driveright - bought it thru my bank when i got my loan - they said i had to pay more for it - i got supreme cover, which means i have no excess etc. It cost $800 thru the bank, and when i bought my pulsar 3 years ago i got the express cover (only 1 offered to me at the time) thru the car yard i bought my car from, and they charged me $1250 for it - it was only 4 2 years instead of 3, and i had to pay a $250 excess.

Oh yeah both warranties were thru Driveright, and they are really good with claims - i dont have to wait for them to pay out (maybe because I have a healthy relationship with my mechanic) and they seem to take my mechanics word for stuff - like not sending someone in to investigate the car before paying it...

Overall I would recommend them - they have done me no wrongs yet! (bad grammar I know, but you know!) :D

I really hate that everytime I call State Ins. they always ask for fullname, dob and address or home ph #. Geez, if someone really want to screw me up, won't they already have that information?

It means they're too low budget to have caller ID matching to their database on their call centre computers. B)

Its just the E30 drivers that are rich.

haha sounds about right... NZI is currently getting phone and software upgrades tho :D so they say ;)

we have to do that "security check" more to update our records, because half the time there's something wrong on the postal, or the mobile phone number is old, or it has the default birthdate coz at the time of taking the insurance out they were unsure of their partner's DoB... as well as a lame attempt at confirming you are who you say you are...
