Rear Brakes

Recommended Posts

can anyone tell me in detail how to disconnect the rear brakes? i dont really want to remove them just disconnect so they dont work in conjunction with the front (or at all). like what people do to line lock but it isnt for that purpose.

the handbrake still working would be nice but if thats not possible screw it, if i have to ill remove the whole caliper but would be nice if i didnt have too..

any help greatly appreciated and yes i know how stupid this is. thanks :)

bit dodgy but im guessing all you would hav to do is remove the brake lines and pads.

handbrake is cable operated so that can stay

Im guessing this is so you can skid it....

Undo them from the calipers and find a fitting that will block off the end of the line.

Handbrake will work - it has no relation to the hydraulic brakes.

If you just remove the brake lines - the system will fill with air and the fronts won't work either. You need to block the rear lines.

Why the hell would you want to do it for anyway ????

There are enough deaths on our roads now

If y'r goin to drive it on our roads you need y'r licence taken off you

Just an old farts thoughts..

The ghetto method is to use a pair of vise grips on the brake hoses in the rear

But it will damage the hoses [do so at your own risk, if somebody gets hurt I'll laugh!]

I have seen a switchable solenoid in the rear brakes made from a CNG high pressure solenoid [free from most wreckers]

Drag racers use a similar system on the front wheels to prevent roll-out, but give instant release upon launching [they hold the brakes and lock the solenoid]

lol your funny, jumping to conclusions and whatnot

Simplest method is to stick a metal spacer in the caliper between the pads so the pads can not touch the disc, they might tip a bit so there may be some braking. Shape it like T so it sits over the caliper and down between the pads, you may need to tie it in with wire.

You can just take it out when you want to. Hope you have no intention of driving anywhere with this set up.

Perhaps you may wish to say why you want to do this to calm some of the other replies or confirm that you are ????

its for a padock basher so no need to worry, i think ill be going with this choice :D thanks for all the help!

v much appreciated!

who needs brakes in a paddock basher?? Brakes only make you go slow, which is not the intention??

I would go for taking the fronts out and leaving the rears, beats using the handbrake. :)
