For sale M54 crank, Rods and Pistons for M54 B30. Nice way to stroke an M50 or M52 for more power and torque(Crank and pistons will drop into any 84mm bore M50 or 52, 325i, 328i 323i and five and seven series equivalents). Main and rod journals are good with no scoring, pistons still have some of the original anti friction coating on them. All in all very good condition. Car had done approx 125kms. $550

From a skeptical buyers viewpoint, I'm always wary of things being sold with known faults, is it simply the owner doesn't have time, or do they know more they don't want to let on... So I'd bargain down accordingly. I don't think that's the case here, but expect the cost of fixing the issue would be recovered by a stronger sale price when issue free.

A diesel or a petrol X5? Jap or Euro import? Polley pls advise. On a serious note, spent the weekend working on trying to get it started. EWS seemed to be clicking open, and I was cranking fine, though just wouldn't start. After a bit of investigation, turns out all the wiring on the crank sensor had molded together, so while the engine was running before I pulled it out, it must have only just been hanging in there, so with all the movement, it must have rubbed together. Strange that the diagnostic tool didn't pull that up though. So after a trip up to Auckland at 2:30PM to Pick A Part to get another crank sensor, swapped it over and was greeted with this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AW644AbB4N1zGZc9VFCwTF5VFZMTz8W3uw Laid it all out and trimmed out the auto parts of the loom this evening. Cheers to Andy as his thread from 2010 on R3V, as that wiring diagram was pretty much bang on. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showpost.php?p=1988202&postcount=44

Found a bit of time today in the sun to do a bit more painting. Painted the grilles and wiper arms. All masked up and ready for paint: Looking better. I last painted the kidneys about 7 years ago when i first owned the car... time to give them a freshen up. All back together and looking smart. Also changed the oil and replaced the driver's side foglight which had rusted out. And finally a sneak peak at the first pieces acquired for a special project. Watch this space.
