Joined up a little bit ago so thought I'd finally say hello. Got my E82 135i LCI early last year, this is my first BMW and absolutely love the thing. It came with a performance exhaust, endcc front lip and Breyton race GTS-R wheels. In the time I've had I've added a Wagner intercooler, FTP intercooler piping, MHD stage 1+ tune and M3 front arms, will look at maybe doing the rear arms and subframe bushes at a later stage. Really happy with the performance. Interior wise I've wrapped some of the trim in alcantara and swapped out the center trim for 1M pieces. Also changed out to some Nelson Racing Wheel paddle adapters with Pedal Haus paddles, much nicer feel over the factory paddles. Audio wise I came across an E82 at zebra that had some plug n play focal front speakers and Rockford fostgate rear speakers, sub wise I chucked in some logic7 subs, cheap and cheerful sound upgrade until I can afford to put in an amp. Maintenance wise changed the troublesome oil filter housing gaskets and got pedantic with the water pump/thermostat and changed those. Next up to look at a weepy gearbox sump ?

Hey Team Small update while cars still getting manifolds made im ticking away with the supercharger bits. Finally got the charger where i want it to sit on the block The rear water coolant pipe is fowling under the charger, so the coolant pipe is at the engineers getting flattened out a bit. The water pump itself getting welded up as well, thermostat hole is getting plated up. Propeller blade ive taken off and the small hole on the right will be blocked off too. Have found a factory M5X alloy water pump pulley that i have had a spacer made and the ribs machined down to accept the back side of the belt. Also purchased the factory injectors and fuel rail for the AMG supercharger. Decided to go with the electric water pump too. And lastly got some stencils done for both motor and charger intakes. Have a mate going to draw up some CAD images of it and then will get a shop to machine the adapter plate up. Slowly getting there.

I just brought an old diesel for gravel road driving. I'm pretty sure it has killed 37 Dolphins worth of wildlife on its own. I'll pay some more tax to create a balance..

So I ended up doing a bit of work on the missus car this weekend, New CVT transmission, new brake pads, rotors etc But lacking a G-clamp of all things, and had issues compressing with leverage alone between rotors and old pads - I had to dig deep with innovation Thought some might find this funny, if not down right legendary This weighed 15kg however, bloody heavy to lug up there !

Hi, I have the above car with a diagnosed broken rocker and bent valve, my questions are: What gasket set do I buy to do the repair (does any M20 gasket set fit?) Is it worth doing the repair to 1 rocker, or should i do all of them? Where can I source a valve? second hand I'm guessing Should I do the timing chain while that deep in the motor? The car is too nice to wreck, but also quite difficult to repair, can I just swap on a later model head? are all M20's the same bolt pattern? this engine has the old style mechanical injection.

Put your last 7 digits on your chassis number into http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog that will give you a list of part numbers required. Its probably easier and cheaper to buy a complete new head or maybe engine if you just want to fix it. They shouldn't be that expensive or hard to get (least they didn't used to be, i dont keep track of prices tbh) Given yours in an 1982 and the change over year you need to see if it was built before or after Sept '82 to verify the later heads are compatible. I dont know what if any difference there is in the earlier blocks and heads (<9.82) compared to later ones (>9.82) but others here probably know. All M20 engines are timing belt M20 based stuff is fairly interchangable and you can fix and match most the parts so you can upgrade the fuel injection to later motronic injection, put bigger engine 2.5 or 2.7L engine in etc etc, depends on how far you want to go and much you want to spend.

Had a pretty successful few days on the project. Got the rest of the cubic/tech graphite finisher strips installed in the interior. Fitted rear leather seats but need a lhs or rhs leather headrest. To complete the interior o’haul i just need some front black leather sport seats. The door entrance covers are all crumbling and really let the car down looks wise. Near impossible to find good used ones so I basically chipped off all the crumbly rubber remains then cut the cerated edges the rubber sticks to off with some scissors followed by a quick scuff with sandpaper. I’m happy with the result. Cheap and cheerful ? Had a look in to why the aircon wasn’t working. Fault code for E-fan showed up on the scanner, couldn’t activate it so pulled the F bumper of to see this. Wiring loom to the E-Fan/Aux fan had been squashed in behind the bumper shock absorber. The hot and ground cables are constantly reading 12v.. learned that when cutting the loom to attach a replacement. Suprisingly no fuses were blown in the making.

Ebay UK might be a way to go - i find there's a good selection of parts for my e36 touring. Whatever and wherever you order from - make sure it's for a RHD!

Pretty sure there were no winners in most of the thread, so have tidied it up a bit. Please keep it civil.

my vice grips weren't big enough! honestly, this was the only option lying around that would work. Actually, during the transmission swap, because someone stole my ropes and straps that i usually use, I had to use a phone cable to counter balance the back end of the transmission to line up the transmission spline. Never say die! Winning!

Today is the first day of my 4th week. And I'm working from home - spreading cold germs around the office is frowned upon! It's been quite tough... My boss - the GM of the council, so 2ic - has some strong preconceptions around what needs to happen and the outside agencies that will be used. She could be right, but I'm not being given time to investigate and check. It's all go, go, go. Fortunately some suppliers are being a touch lax about their delivery schedules which gives me a bit of breathing space, and she's on leave for a couple of weeks. I'm keen to make progress, but not having her looking for updates every five minutes is a relief. I'm new, she's ensuring I 'fit' the role I was recruited for - it'll all be fine. In parallel, I've since been offered 3 roles - a BoP Strategic transformation role, IS Program Director in Palmy, and another in Wanganui! Where were these people when I was looking for so long???!!!

I’ve figured it out. MFM means MotherF******Monster. ? 16.2L/100kms on a drive to Oakura Bay via Old Russell Road. Superb road. No such thing as a straight. No traffic at all which was a bonus. Get to drive past the Russian’s place at Helena Bay.
