Hi folks, just joined as driving & cars are a passion in life. On a road trip now from New Plymouth - Hokitika - Christchurch. Purchased yesterday my 2nd BMW. 2003 325ci. Milliy's a keeper! Be great if a Canterbury or South Island club can be restarted with regular meets and runs for like minded BMW drivers and their families. Thank you for letting me join. Happy driving everyone. Jon

Wow, an FIA approved BoP registered factory backed race package for half that price? So, Euro50k? Please post up a link or pm me as that’s in my budget so would be very keen, thanks.

Thanks guys. This is the kit I got. I chose dark red for both colour options. https://www.lseat.com/products/1984-1991-bmw-e30-sport-325-318-custom-real-leather-seat-covers-front.html For the foam repair, I got a piece of "firmish" density foam (similar to OEM), as well as a thin soft foam. Both from Para Rubber. I removed the worst of the crumbling original foam, and then cut a few pieces to fill in the missing parts/holes. Using some spray on contact adhesive, I glued the replacement pieces in. For the lower side bolster, I added some extra bits to help deal with some extra abuse. The upper side bolster was shaped with bastard file (aggressive enough to wear away at the foam), but I've seen cheese graters used as well. Once the main pieces are shaped nicely, I covered them with a layer of the thin foam to smooth out the top surface. With the leather pulled over the bolsters, I could not notice any evidence of foam repair. I should also mention that I used a clothing steamer to rejuvenate the original foam. The steam caused the foam to expand a surprising amount. I would highly recommend doing this.

Fitted the rear window set, 2 pcs today with the kids out skating. 30 mins all up. Hardest bit was getting the old side pieces out after they broke away from the corners. Also, lots of underseal scum was flushed away.

Exhaust manifold swap on the X5....... found a few issues, namely 5 cracks in the manifold, evidence of the gasket around #4 cylinder leaking at the head (suspect warped manifold), downpipe from turbo wasn't tight at all (I could easily rotate it by hand), and the turbo support bracket - well think that was just there for decoration.......... So new manifold on, every exhaust component got checked (and anti-siezed), new manifold and gaskets installed. Hopefully no more diesel fumes......... And that's one thing on the list of repairs done so far (changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, driver's door handle etc.), still got thermostat and CCV filter to do. Was hoping to do the thermostat today while everything was apart but the weather started to turn.

Come on boys and girls, I think this has gone about as far as it needs to here. An indeterminate number of people are feeling aggrieved, and are taking legal advice on the matter. Views have been cast here. The seller has presumably pocketed some money and has a couple of his late father's cars off of the family lawn. We're a broad community; the purchaser is probably amongst us as well. Can we move on, or do some of you want to keep picking at the scab?

Well, that's over. The two top coats of silver, 40 minutes apart, have gone on. Two coats of silver, and thirty minutes later... And 30-odd minutes later, the clear coat went on. I used U-Pol, the body shop said it's the best quality clear you can buy in a can. It's pricey, but who am I to ignore their advice? I'm now praying my workshop gets/stays warm enough with the heater on, to keep the clear from going cloudy. Wearing it's new coat of clear. Tomorrow they'll get into the warmest/sunniest room in the house for a few days. Mount on Friday perhaps?

No... the relief for breach of contract is rarely the reinstatement and execution of said contract. Rather, the aggrieved party might be compensated for actual losses which, in this case, is likely to be negligible. Now, if the original buyer had gone out and purchased a couple of 850 engines on the belief s/he was going to receive the cars for said price then that would be a different matter and a different case. Any magistrate would also be interested in how fair the (original) buyer thought the price was, if they knew they were getting a killer deal that would not be considered favourably. Essentially in the law's eyes this is probably about haste, naivety, mistakes, opportunism and possibly a little greed, nobody has suffered any serious loss and the law would look at the circumstances, not the morality. I suspect that if the seller had approached the original buyer and said "hey look, I've just got this better offer and it looks like I priced them wrong from the outset, could we negotiate?" the outcome might be the same but the parties would all feel better about it. I think that's the lesson here.

I went to Union Hardware with a rim. They gave me the sun lamp and a fan deck and warned me that looking at silver chips for too long would mentally blind me! "pick one that's close to what you're seeing". I found one that looked good to me. Code photo below. Silvers are a real bitch to match, that's for sure. Those spray-painters that do colour-matching by eye are Jedis! Details of the paint that was mixed for me. I'm not saying it's a correct paint or anything. It's one I liked the look of. @Cammsport Right then, the etch has dried, I've fixed a couple of nicks, wiped it with Iso, time for me to shoot some primer. And now it's late enough on a sunday, get the grinder out!

How'd you choose the colour? Have you managed to find a colour code for the original silver? Nice work.

The O2 sensors were still original, and were very old and rusty. One of them finally died, so I picked up a couple of replacements. I also found out that the interior blower fan refused to function, and had seized in it's bearings Brand new units are fairly spendy, so located a used replacement locally. The replacement fan was installed, and the blower is now working again...but only on the top speed. Argh, that means the fan resistor is dead now too. Two steps forward, one step back. Such is life.

The sport seats had arrived, and just needed to be recovered before I could put them in the car. As soon as the leather upholstery kit was delivered, I dived straight into the first seat. Many zipties were used... Some foam was repaired on the side bolster. The next seat was for the driver side. This one had taken a bit more abuse, and needed some more serious foam repair. The rest of the second seat was the same as the first. The seat rails were cleaned up and repainted. Both seats mostly back together. I still need to do some work on the back covers. I'm stoked with the result. I think they look great, although I may still need to tweak fitment in a few places. Quite happy with the quality of the leather kit, especially for the relatively low price.

Figured out why my windscreen washer stopped working. Soaked in WD40, knocked all the lumps of rot out, and it lives again At least until parts turn up to replace it.

That looks familiar! I'm hoping someone from the Bimmersport community will buy and continue to love it. If you have any questions, please PM me.
