I’d buy this https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2636647300.htm and spend the rest on refreshing the engine for piece of mind.

Thats my 325i SE on Trademe that i purchased off Mikan. Its actually a really solid car now despite the milage and history. There is still a lot that could be done to it to bring it back to its original SE spec and i will slowly chip away on it if it doesnt sell. Getting rid of those terrible door speakers is top of the list. I only listed it because Trademe had a list your car for free day so thought why not. I dont need to sell it and enjoy driving it even if it is only once a week to pop down to the shops. The price I would i would let it go for is purely what its worth to me. The odd situation with the chassis damage was quite a quick and easy fix. There was no "cracking" of the chassis as such, just the spot welds on one side of the beam that the back of the diff mounts to had started to come away. Never seen or heard of that before.

This was the second or third time re listed after the seller declared it won’t be re listed again.

I was surprised how un-e8/9x they are underneath, looks more like an E46. Still damn cool car

So those were shill bids at the end correct? I’ve just been offered it for $16k.

Good job on tidying it up, looks almost like a different car from the state it was previously in. $9K is a pretty reasonable ask too considering E30 tax and all. Was going to ask you on TM if it was the same car, but the Q&A warriors of justice would've had a field day.

Wow, someone got a steal! No wonder they sold so quickly. The BTB headers are one of the few that legitimately give a power increase on the M20.

Schwarz instead of Carbon Black is always nice. Early car so it won’t have the MK60 ABS unit. I believe this is the first ever M3 into NZ as well (kiwi new I mean, ignoring that pre production LSB example).

Yep that's what I thought as well, nice sound but biased toward luxury rather than handling, not really fast either. Plus its a Benz so if maintenance costs on BMWs are scary prepare to be terrified. Doesn't help either that late 90s early Noughties Benz's were a low point for the brand as far as quality went, a fact Benz themselves acknowledged.

Wow, I'm watching that on tardme. Looks like a nice well sorted car in the listing. I wonder if they fixed the rusty sill and cracked chassis?

This car is proof positive Germany is still pissed about loosing the war. It deserves none of your respect, care and least of all any more of your money. Get rid of it.

I belong (amongst others) to a drivers group called ARTDI (a reason to drive it) and we had our first drive Sunday morning since before lockdown. With another bimmersporter from Hamilton #audiguy in a Z4M we drove through to Rotorua to meet up. A varied collection of 35 cars turned up (groups of 10 and SD procedures observed ?). The organiser Earle driving the orange Audi TT Quattro 3.2V6 (I owned a silver one a few years back) and is lead car for the Targa rally. He choose the course for the day using many of the roads used by Targa. Well what a blast ‘following’ the TT and the Z4M. Best of all the M3 performed flawlessly on some testing roads and even though it needs a rear wheel alignment after changing the RTABs. Have some replacement wishbones and bushes to do then will get a proper alignment done.

No it's still kicking. I left at the start of the year to pursue something else, unfortunately that hasn't worked out due to the current situation so currently jobless. Thankfully the Mrs is still bringing home a fulltime wage but won't be for too much longer as she goes on maternity leave at the end of June

178,000 kms. My most anticipated upgrade. The headlights were badly faded and ruined the look of the car for me. Took it to Final Touch in Porirua to have them professionally refurbished. Really happy with the result. Has transformed the front of the car. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take good before and after photos, but this will do the trick. Before: After:
