Got some new cluster rings. Wasn't sure I'd like the chrome over the matte silver but it's growing on me. Gave it a wash today. It will definitely benefit from a cut&polish but I'm holding out for my mate who's starting up a detailing business. I've done all the graphic design for him so all 3 of our cars are getting done as payment. Really looking forward to seeing what he can do with it. And a snap from on the way to dinner tonight. I wish I knew how to use the pro setting of the phone camera ? As a side note I'm getting more nervous about timing chain guides. I need to stop reading about them! There's no alarming noises but it's just in the back of my mind. We're building next year so I'm planning to do it after we've shifted so I can take my time. Wife requires my attention to remain firmly on finishing renovations on our house before we sell so hopefully they hold together!

It's been a while since I've owned a BMW, been in company cars for a while with a urs6 and mgbgt to play with. Anyway picked this up a while back and have been returning her to spec- hence my advert seeking standard hellrot wing mirrors and an Alpina rear spoiler instead of the m3 items. She is a 3.2 Switchtronic, which is basically a tuned 5 speed zf auto with buttons on back of the steering wheel, Effectively always driving in sport mode, then using the 's' position as manual mode(normal s function is not available)

Hi there, I've got two sets of these for sale, both are genuine BMW with 4 x LED bars. The first set comes with bulb holders and bulbs, the second set is the lenses only although all come with the LED that lights up the four light bars (it's fixed in the lenses). Both sets are in great condition with no cracks or other damage. First set w/lenses, bulb holders, bulbs, gasket and LED: $250 ono Second set w/lenses, gasket and LED, no bulb holders: $150 ono (E87 pre-LCI bulb holders do not fit in these lenses) These are regularly advertised for $250 each and BMW NZ want over $500 each. ? These are plug-and-play on any E81 or LCI E87 equipped with Xenon's, if you have a non-Xenon LCI or any pre-LCI you need a simple DIY to wire them in and activate the LED strips by following these instructions with pictures: https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15081 and there's further description here if needed: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=730693 If you buy either set then any coding you need to set the lights up as you like them is free if you drive to my place (Ellerslie). Can ship at buyer's expense. SET #1 Set #2 All are Genuine BMW

Use something like bmwfans.info to see if the 98’ ones part number matches the 03’ car.

Plastic bladder inside box with a screw cap and tap, remove the cap and tap screws onto the cap thread. Once you have it setup on a table etc you just rotate the box 90 degrees towards you and becomes a mini oil dispensary.

Can confirm the cardboard 20L is much better than the plastic option. Far easier to dispense with the included tap and obviously stores better. Probably much easier to drain once it near empty too.

You'll love this one then Dan @ $18k: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2816014666 ? I like how "Fully Optioned" doesn't include: sunroof, F/R PDC, Hi-Fi, 18's, Aero kit, lumbar adjust, reverse camera or cruise control... what else is missing for 18k?!?

I run Castrol React Performance DOT 4, Which is essentially the same performance as DOT 5.1 ( and much higher than average DOT4 at 180/260c ), totally happy in BMWs and cheap as chups https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPDS.nsf/Files/B0F5626B0EB98D0B8025843C00213662/$File/BPXE-9VCL2X.pdf

Yeah, everything is getting a good scrub, inlet manifold was cleaned while it was out, not too keen to get elbows deep in the engine before its road legal, but given how it drives I suspect there's nothing major wrong with it, only smoked excessively while it was cold so turbo oil seals are probably old and worn but not terminal yet. Bumper test fitted, stereo adaptor harness arrived so that is working, steering wheel controls work as they should, intercooler pipe modified for boost gauge piping, starting to look a bit Pimp my Tractor...

It would be good if there was some more narrative on the video, explaining in more details what the cars are, and why they are being dismantled. It's quite an old video, but still interesting none the less. The cars in the video, whilst they may seem like old models now, were actually pretty much brand new. What are referred to as "pre-production" or "pre-pro" vehicles, which are built for engineering testing and homologation uses. They are only used by the factory engineers to check everything is working correctly, and doing it what it should do, before a new model or even a new feature or technical change, can be released into full production for sale. At the end of this testing the cars are only a number of months old, and have very few (if any) kms on them. So far from them being junk. For technical and legislative reasons, although there is absolutely nothing wrong with the cars, they cannot be sold in most new vehicle markets. All the components are in effect "brand new" or "near new" but again they cannot be re-used in the assembly process nor as spare parts. This is why then get scrapped and recycled in this way. This is why the title of the video refers to "fans will cry" as these are pefectly good, brand new cars that are being pulled apart and recycled.

Yes, got that as well, of course! LuK brand too. Oh right, sorry! I’ve got them from RockAuto, it is way cheaper than the usual suspects like FCP etc. $1210 NZD all up including GST and shipping. They didn’t stock the flywheel bolts though so have just ordered them through BMW East Auckland at $55 for 6. I’ll post the exact links/kit numbers later when I get the chance. Bought heaps from rock auto before though, they’re awesome.

okey dokey, all fixed now and fully functional. Let me know if it broke anything.

Well, new LuK DMF, clutch kit and new flywheel bolts have been ordered. Bit of luck should have them by the end of next week and can get them fitted the week after! Is there anything else I should be doing at the same time? Fingers crossed this will be the end of the bad vibrations! In other news, I've just booked in for a driver training track day at Hampton Downs at the end of November. Details here, if anyone else is interested: https://fb.me/e/8hLtB2xTX I haven't done a track day before so I've selected the beginner group and requested some instructor time as well. Can't wait!

Not 100 percent sure, I used an Auto thane 2 pack clear that is for automotive 2k use so it should last ok, not sure how much, if any, effect it will have on stopping the headlights yellowing, but I had it in the spray gun to do the interior trim anyway so that's what I used. I have used a proper headlight sealant in the past and within 12 months it was peeling off and useless so I won't use it again.

I still think we should try and artificially bump the prices by listing all of ours around 15K.
