You're paying for it either way, one guy includes it in his hourly rate, the other guy charges it separately. As long as they tell you about the charge before you engage them you can't complain.

I'll charge both thanks. It costs to run my vehicle x amount per km. And it costs for my time. Otherwise I'm better off to do jobs close by / at the workshop and actually get paid for my time rather than drive around for free.

Fair enough, as I acknowledged, if you have enough work to turn customers away then you can charge what you want really. I imagine there are lots of people that aren't that lucky though and charging extra might not be a tenable option for them.

Oil and filter change using 5w30 synthetic. These M62's take around 7.5 litres which is more than the S62 in the M5. Also the engine mounts have been changed as with oil everywhere, oil and engine mounts are not good friends... I haven't managed to find a lower engine cover yet, but in trial fitting a 530 sport one, with a little customising it can be adapted fairly easily.

Eventuri is a nice upgrade! I couldn’t get the lower scoop in though? I wonder if the oem pipe is correct ?

Btw you are welcome to drive my 335i with Konis and Tein S tech springs, pretty firm.

Yep have to agree with Olaf I think B4s are a slightly retrograde step.

Just be careful if you go second hand with these. Bell housings and sumps can be different. This is what we and BM Workshop in Grey Lynn found and BMW couldn't help with a new one at the time.

At my previous job it was for all jobs, nearby or far. $2 per km, there and back, while charging full workshop rate for time traveled. Why would I drive my vehicle around at a reduced hourly rate (or free as some people would expect), when i can stay in the comfort of the workshop and charge full rate on another job. If there is some other sucker out there willing to drive around for free by all means, call them instead lol! Now I'm somewhere else, and its a set fee for travel around town. Out of town is extra. Most of the time dealing with the general public is such a f**k around i understand why a lot of people don't bother. I do a bit of work on the side for people, and I turn people away all the time because the hassle just isn't worth it, I don't even bother doing jobs for people unless I know them any more.

27 November 2020. 180622kms 1. Annual Service to keep current for MBI. Oil & Filter (Penrite HPR5 & Hengst filter) Brake fluid flush & pressure bleed Genuine BMW coolant and demineralised water (I do annual as a precaution on N62 coolant tube) Removed cabin filters, wash filter boxes; vacuum out debris; remove & clean drains. Reassembled with new cabin filter. Checked sunroof drains front and rear Replaced air filter Checked belts, hoses, underbonnet fluid levels. Lubed boot lid and bonnet hinges Replaced wiper blades Tyre pressures checked (nail removed left rear tyre). Scanned and reset service items. The craftsman's workshop, Auto 38 in Newtown! I've only done 3583kms in this car in the last year. Between Covid, lockdown etc, there hasn't been as much need or opportunity for use. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Next steps: Give it a damned good clean, clay, wax. Sort out the headlamp lens fogging - it's come back after a year Replace serpentine tensioner and pulley Replace rocker cover gaskets. They're starting to leak again, wondering if they were actually replaced when the valve stem seals were done at 166699kms in Apr 2018.🙄 One wouldn't expect these to fail in just 2.5 years. It's worth noting that oil consumption is ~0 since the valve stem seals were done.

Believe it or not, that panel needed another few light runs of filler, some very deceptive low spots still, this curve is without a doubt taking me on a panel crash course from hell. But yeah for real, she's done. Well Im struggling to see where she's not good, so that's good enough for me. Walking a fine line to insanity getting this right. Slapped down some base coat to get some shadows showing, and she looks mint I was talking to a panel beater today and he laughed saying that what I'm dealing with is normal, happens on nearly every job Hopefully wrap up the other side on Saturday! Already put alot of work into it. But haven't applied a fine tooth comb over it like this side

Yes. The sheer costs of running a small business in New Zealand. Even before your have opened the door (to your business or vehicle)

I did the full cooling system on my e36 M3 and my 328i and for both it was cheapest to import everything via FCP Euro, OE Behr radiators and all. ECS do tend to be more expensive in general than FCP but I'm sure that they have better deals from time-to-time, would pay to cross check. No point in importing coolant though, just pick it up from Repco or Supercheap. Despite what some would have you believe, the BMW stuff isn't unicorn semen.

The complexity is that it's not only an PFL/LCI thing, it also has to do with whether you have a motorsport bumper. All E81/7 motorsport bumpers, regardless of the year of the car, have pointy corners... this does not apply to E82/8. Also, LCI is confusing because there were two LCI's, one n 2007/8 and the other in 2010 These will probably work, no idea on shipping: https://marsperformance.com.au/Matt-Black-1M-Style-Front-Kidney-Grille-BMW-E87-E81-Hatch-Pre-LCI-04-10 https://marsperformance.com.au/Gloss-Black-1M-Style-Front-Kidney-Grille-BMW-E87-E81-Hatch-Pre-LCI-04-10 Note they're for a "PRE LCI 04/2010" - lots of confusion. The Schmiedmann ones also obviously fit (I have them) but unless you're combining shipping they're prohibitive.

Cfibre grills, vvt gasket and undertray are spoken for ?

We probably need a 130i general thread ? Anyway I went through the garage/shed and these are all the spare bits I have, free to a good home. - gloss black grills, the rounded version(likely face-lift) with 6 tabs. Brand new, aliexpress special. Quality is good, just doesn't fit my car. - "carbon fibre" grills, brand new. Pointy ended but with a thick lip on them. Possibly E90 but may fit a pre face lift. Have 4 tabs, which is similar to my pfl Kidneys. - "leather" gear shift gaiter but it's LHD, may just be throwaway. Brand new aliexpress special. I've got to stop ordering parts at 2am lol - manual shifter bushing, the one the shifter sits in. Its brand new from fcp - 130i undertray, non official one. Was fitted to my e81 for about a month. Is an abs replica of a real tray, which I did not realise when ordering lol. Wasn't cheap. Pretty sure it needs matching holes drilled into it for the front screws (2 or 3)but otherwise all the holes in it have been pre-drilled. Definitely more solid/durable than the factory tray. - Wiring I bought which goes between the valvetronic motor and the electronic relay. It has a bmw part number. I never used it as replacing the motor and the relay fixed my issue. Brand new from FCP - Valvetronic motor gasket for a face-lift N52, black top. Will not work on the silver top engine, that's a different gasket ?. Brand new from FCP I also have a set of BMW roof racks for E87 but I'm undecided if I want to keep them or not. They won't be free. I can ship most of these, except the undertray possibly. Buyer pays. Pm me if interested.

post close up photos of your tyres or type our every word on it and we can tell you if it is a RFT or not. Either way, its absolutely your choice if you want to run RFT or go for normal tyres and have roadside assist/tyre goo in the boot.

Michelin Super Sports (non run flat) are the OEM tire on those rims I believe. Good rep although I gather longevity is not their strong suit.

I don't have a M135i now but did have an E82 135i previously which came on run flats. I swapped them out for non run flat Michelin PS4's almost immediately and never looked back. I was seriously considering a M135i before buying my e82 and looked at quite a few at the time which all were on run flats. If you're really wanting run flats I'd highly recommend Michelin PS4 ZP's(zero pressure). I've got them on my current G20 and they're so much better than than the Bridgestone run flats both with grip and ride comfort.

The topcoat I applied to the wheels had wrinkled up for some reason, so spent another day sanding and priming... Haven't tried again yet... I got stuck into oil and coolant leaks last Sunday and have completed the redundant trans oil cooler and associated coolant pipes removal, as well as plugged the back of the alternator to cure that coolant leak. Also put in a new radiator and replaced the vanos solenoid oil gaskets. I think these along with the rear main seal were the source of the oil leaks. Also changed a power steer hose from reservoir to cooler, the other reservoir pipe is on the way so will change that when it arrives. Needless to say a lot of cleaning along the way.... M5 mirrors have been painted (I broke the $$glass trying to incorrectly get it out, but insurance has saved the day...), but in meantime have painted the existing LH mirror cover. I haven't changed the coolant yet as I have yet to crack open the block drains, but will have another go when new plugs and crush washers arrive... But on a 30 minute drive, happy to report no leaks of any sort and cooling system up to pressure and all good. Next up the coolant, as well as oil, oil filter, air filter change.
