Yeah, except the one in the link is really not well spec'd. Plus you get to enjoy the timing chain issues in the M62 so pick your poison.

I’ve had both and still have the 750, ultimately for more more cylinders for me wins 😁

Quick update on this; after months of waiting and liaising with the dealer the trans has been replaced and the torque-converter rebuilt... Thank god for the warranty - ended up around $4600... The culprit (as discussed before) that silly oil cooler that fails and lets water into the trans which corrodes everything... Kinda silly design if you ask me as the trans itself is pretty much bulletproof.

Not even sure if 20" rims were invented when the E53 was developed? They were definately a "thing" when the E70 came out. So the suspension set-up on the E70 would definately have been designed with that size of wheel in mind, so shouldn't be any major issues. Poor ride and handling is usually a by product of incorrectly sized rims and tyres being fitted to the vehicle in my experience. If you have wheels that were a factory option fitted with the correct tyres then that removes that possibility, which is a good start. The E70s do seem to have a liking for going through tyres, especially rears, fairly quickly. I think this is in part down to the rear geometry causing the inner shoulders to wear, and the fact that it is easy to drive them like a sporty car as they go so well - with the result that things do wear out a bit quicker.

Ahh, yes, the good old "Junior Team" that had to tell their young and "enthusiastic" drivers to calm down as they were getting so much damage on the cars in each race. Who would have thought...

And every single 730Ld has been “Helen Clarke’s car” or “John Key’s Car” or even “the Royal Tour Car” . And don’t forget the “armour plated” and “bullet proof glass” options.

Hi all, Very new to four wheeled BMW ownership. I have my second bavarian motorcycle in the garage as well. I recently picked up a fairly well maintained 1987 525e from Motueka to use as a daily driver. I'm well chuffed with my purchase. I don't think the price could go much lower for a car like this before it starts to head back upward. It's a bit rough around the exterior with paint fade and some rust that will need attention before too long. Also missing its auto shifter knob and needs a heater switch valve (anyone?). Looking forward to learning more from the group. Cheers

One of those LSB met its demise when it went from Wgtn to Auckland a few years back . Owner of the time struggled to get miid $30s. But it was another immaculate example . Yesterday’s price is what I paid for my M3 in 2011 when it had 48,000 km on the clock. Great to see the value coming back on theses and hopefully the same happens with the boring colours like mine.

Excellent. I apologise @PartsFriend, it seems my scepticism was misguided. I'm glad it worked out well. @Cammsport how was it priced compared to the usual outfits (FCP, ECS etc)?

Completed the second fluid change in the transmission, new filter and pan gasket this time, while it was running up to temp for the final fill something in the aircon let go and all the refrigerant and horrible green dye escaped!! Not sure where from yet, possibly the compressor, at first I thought a coolant hose had let go but it smelt wrong and wasn't making a puddle!!
