Been a while busy fixing some complicated panel damage on the missus car when she had a date with a tow bar and the e91 I picked up, had a major pain in the ass moment, some 1k primer that I thought was removed decided to cause major issues in places and primer was cracking in areas. Good thing I left it for a while for this to reveal it's self. So took some time sanding back and essentially redoing a major chunk of those quarter panels. Any way worked out for the best having re visiting it with fresh eyes I realized that rear right hand side just wasn't symetrical when comparing to the lhs or compared to the kink depth on doors. I've learned how to cast shadows to guide the sanding path and feather that curve nicely So provided no unexpected delamination appears, body work is officially done Going to probably seal it with some left over base coat for good measure and have it outside to eye up panels. But yeah final sand down inbound and disasembly mode. Hoping weather keeps hot, don't like painting with Cold weather.

Hoping you maybe able to assist us! A friend of ours from Auckland 2 years ago initiated a Facebook group for NZ E39 M5 owners . During that time he has built a register of E39 M5's in this country. Due to some serious unbridled enthusiasm and get-go, around 35 NZ new cars have now been uncovered, with around 12-13 imports. I believe that the vast majority of cars in the country have now been discovered. However we know there has to be a few more out there! Most are currently located in Auckland, but there are few also in the Waikato, Hawkes Bay, Poverty Bay, Wellington, Christchurch etc. Are there any cars out there that you are aware of that may not be on the register? As you are probably aware , the interest in these cars has elevated in recent years - and we have some seriously passionate members of our Facebook group who adore their beasts. The founder of the group organized a successful get- together several months ago -when 20 plus E39 M5's were photographed together in Auckland. A special occasion. Please respond to this thread or drop me a PM if you have any intel on any cars that you may be aware of. It would be immensely appreciated! There is a unsubstantiated rumour that a very low k example lives in the South Island, and spends some time in the Dunedin area. Does anyone have any intel on that car? We appreciate that there will always be some who may not want to be involved in any facebook groups - but we would still love to have information on the cars out there! Anecdotally there were 250 delivered to Australasia new - nobody seems to know what the actual split was between NZ and Australia.

Next day we were off to Milford Sound by bus. Another day of great weather despite a cool start, and the scenery is just out of this world -simply stunning. PreCovid this road was busy every day, with tourists in buses, car, campers etc. When we were there, the bus park, which can hold 48 tour coaches, had only three plus our 18 seater. They were hoping and praying for the Aussie bubble to open, so they could see a return to more normal levels of customers. We were lucky enough to have a pod of dolphins swim with us on the boat trip. Another night in Te Anau and then off north via Queenstown and Arrowtown for lunch. But first a stop at Kingston-to view the Kingston Flyer a tourist train that has been idle for years. We had a photo shoot in front of the station, safe that no trains were coming. And then we see on the news just a few days later the train was back on the tracks for a trial run.

Yep, just bought 3M outdoor mounting tape. Put strips around the edge of the whole spoiler with two strips in the middle just for peace of mind. Had my sister help me line it up so it sat in line with the part where the roof and back end meet. Oh and I wiped down each surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and put pressure on the contact points for around 30 seconds. You can do it yourself but makes things a lot easier with two people, less chance of putting it on wonky.

Possibly due to the E 30 listing as opposed to E30 tag in search engine? Didn't come up in mine either! This looks like its Ross Kent selling this car he's a good bugger and knows his stuff and loves e30s

Fuel pump wiring now complete, pretty happy with how it turned out. Went for a 22A solid state relay for reliability and 12 gauge wire for the hot side to mate up with the 20A fuse. Finally got to the cavity wax application in the areas that were opened up and ground / welded etc. Got the rear interior pretty much all back in and its looking great ... can't quite finish as I want to leave the rear bumper off for now while more work happens some time down the track (exhaust mainly). Had an Amazon voucher from work so turned that into a nice set of crimping tools (Deutsch and others for when attention turns to the wiring department) and Torx Plus bits so I can assemble the ATI super damper finally (yea, Torx Plus is a thing ... who knew !!). Also got my centre console triple gauge mount all the way from Lithuania !!

Another quick update. After driving the car around a bit more, it's clear that exhaust is a problem. It's taken half a dozen hits now, the clamp is not looking great, and the flexy is not going to last long. The exhaust has also been pushed up into the floor of the body to leave some small dents. This photo is an attempt to show how low this front section sits. The clamp: So, I've come up with plan to modify the front section of the system to tuck it further up into the car: I'll cut off the main V band clamp and flexy. Add a second small flexy to the "Y" merge section. Add regular 2 bolt flange further back, just before the resonator. Then connect the ends back together with a slightly ovalized length of pipe, I already made a start on merge section. Hoping to make some more progress this weekend.

It’s ok, I don’t think many people have spotted it... only 178 watchers.

Now dump the fishing rod aerial for a stubby one. 😉

Managed to pick up an OEM aero spoiler from the wreckers for $190 shipped ... Already painted black as well. Makes the car look so much better

Where do you get this info? Their website claims there is no ethanol in it. https://www.npd.co.nz/100plus-high-octane-petrol/ Ran it in my 335i with the off-the-shelf 98RON stage 2+ tune, seemed to run great with no sign of knock/timing pulls. Use it in my M4 now (stock tune). Down here it's cheaper than BP's 98.

Unsure how this eluded the search engine previously. Very interested to see what a very desirable (Schartz manual 2 door with Alpina bits) but non collectable (Not mint / engine swapped / no cert etc) E30 manual goes for in the current auction market. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/320i/listing/3081744318?bof=qOCQShRm

Motor swap time. Probably looking like the n46 going to need valve guides and maybe new cats from blocked oil, and to be honest my hatred for n46 gives me too much bias. Something popped up from a donor car, so here we go. N52b25 lucky to get the entire setup, driveshaft, cas dme box diff etc While it's out going to do some seals. But motor this looks like I may have got lucky. It was a runner before removal but someone must have done head gasket and rocker cover because alot of stuff looks new
