This one is interesting, still too expensive but probably the highest spec'd one I've ever seen: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3109945580 Sunroof, F/R PDC, BMW Performance Exhaust (educated guess, it's not stock and looks like a BMW back box), Comfort Access, Adjustable Lumbar, Adaptive Xenons, HiFi System (on top of Professional Nav, so extra amp and speakers), CD Changer... it's really only missing Cruise Control I think (which can be retrofitted, I've done it). And a good looking (and proper fitting) spoiler to boot. That would have cost a pretty penny off the lot! I wish there was an engine bay pic, based on the wing and trunk stickers it may have some hidden goodies too: https://www.studie.co.jp/ Maybe I should take a look on the weekend?

You can come over and polish my tips anytime bud.

You're right with everything there @Olaf. The Bentley is definitely something to consider in years to come but for now I've made the decision to find the right S85. An uncle of mine once said "you have to own a V12 at least once in your life" and I did that with the 750iL so now I need to do it with the V10. I'm leaning towards the M5 over an M6 mainly because they are more practical. There will still be occasions in the next couple of years to have people in the back and I wouldn't want to leave an M6 in the garage just because I have passengers. I also prefer the styling, I've always loved the E60 from the outside but the E63 would take some getting used to.

Probably because the shape and fitment was developed in situ, so there were no measurements to get the bends made. That said, my biggest issue is the ugliness of the welds. I can understand the tempered v polished finish if they were beat TiG welds, but those look like slugs laid down from a MiG gun - compare the welds on the pipe to the silencer. Not saying I could do better - but as it’s so prominent in the look of the bike they should be better finished.

wicked, I've got a new winscreen seal that is for the narrow lower trim same with as top. car currently has a larger lower trim and that seal is impossible to buy. sounds like we need to have a chat.

Dash looks so much cleaner with the OEM headunit installed.

I've got an E3 parts car sitting here, got it with the E3 to restore. Not sure what I'll need off it (haven't started the restoration yet) but will have some bits and pieces. Chrome trims on it from memory are pretty good, bumper chrome is shot, but the resto E3 bumpers are fine so I won't need the brackets I don't think. Same goes for the window trims. Carbs I'll probably hold onto until the resto E3 is done, so I know if there's anything I need, otherwise they'll be up for grabs. Exhaust and radiator should also be good on the resto, not sure of the condition on the parts car. Unfortunately both cars are auto (for now - that will change) so can't help with a manual box or anything there. Just depends on how soon you want everything, I'm flat out trying to get a workshop finished before I can get to any parts cars, if you're happy to wait I can flick you through photos and put sh*t aside for you as I strip the parts car.

One’s faster and one handles better. E46 will probably be cheaper to maintain.

One of the few that’s actually worth more than what it’s asking. No wonder it sold quite quickly

@Ghost Chip @E28E30 I saw the actual receipts but the seller gave a rough rundown...

Was on trademe, and prior to that, trademe and the E30 FB Classifieds 18 months ago for $40K. Been through a couple of owners since a friend did a full rebuild @313km. $15K spent on the motor alone, over $45K was spent from top to tail, new leather, new seat foam, custom hidden bluetooth stereo with sub box along with period correct headunit, full koni suspension + bushing refresh, new steering rack etc etc. Was probably put to market about a year too soon initially, and the buy now later was far far far too cheap. It's level above the $64K red one.

Something very satisfying about polishing metal, chrome in particular. That said, bloody happy there's so little of it on my e30. I suppose it's time I did the exhaust tips on my e60. Thanks for the inspiration Mike, and keep up the great work!

No posts for a little while as have just been chipping away in the background and making plans for things needed to mount the engine for the (hopefully) final time ... heater lines, wire routing, sealing the cabin blower air intake etc. I did pull the engine again and have fitted the shifter relocation kit finally so I can make car noises and change gears At the same time I shortened the dust cap so the Spicer 1350 slip yoke can fit without fouling. Onto the VERY exciting developments this week ... received the dry sump housing and rebuild kit needed to change mounting from right to left. On the same day the Sikky Manufacturing slim steering linkage arrived. Dry sump is fully stripped and now ready to reassemble with the new housing. By far the most exciting thing to happen was the arrival of the dry sump oil pan which I designed and had made via https://hubs.com ... looks FANTASTIC, so stoked. Lets hope it fits up alright Will need to finalise the design of the oil scraper plate before it can be mounted up permanently.

Half toying with trading it in, but the trade in offer I got from the place that had the car I wanted was terrible. Two other dealers actually offered competitive valuations but they don't have what I wanted any longer. This is a NZ new, full spec 550hp "M" car.. Similar engine to the M5 and M6. 2010 model, about 147k on the clock. This vehicle is in excellent condition with loads of important service items recently undertaken. Way back when from new it was specced up and given to Brendan McCullum. Personalised plate (X5 ///M) is provided. Lots of features : Panoramic sunroof Selectable M mode (in addition to Sport mode), giving more power/response, stiffer suspension, stiff steering, opens up the quad tip exhausts etc Heads up display Reversing camera and parking assist Keyless entry Push button start Built in hard drive for the stereo as well as Bluetooth for phone Latest BMW NZ 2020 Sat Nav maps Heated, memory seats. Fully adjustable, they 'hug' you while driving. Auto lights (inc. auto dip) and wipers Rubber bootliner As well as all the normal stuff you would expect like tow bar (removable, with key), black leather interior, air conditioning, cruise control, etc Engine has had the problem parts replaced with revised genuine BMW parts to ensure the same failure does not reoccur prematurely. Full overhaul including: Timing chain and tensioners Oil pump chain Valve stem seals 4 cam sensors 4 VANOS solenoids Water pump Thermostat Associated gaskets and seals Spark plugs Auxiliary water pump and reservoir I've also put 4 new Nexan Performance tires on it, and full alignment; the only really expensive regular service item checked off for the new owner for quote a while! Full Build sheet attached. Wants for nothing, get in and drive. Offers around $30k? BMW E70 X5 M 2010 Silverstone 2 metallic (A29) Leather _Merino__schwarz (LKSW) - WBSGY02060LH67396.pdf

153,800 kms. Bit of basic maintenance today. Oil + filter change and new spark plugs. The spark plugs definitely needed replacing! Seems to be running very slightly smoother, but that could be a placebo - it ran really great before. Also got around to installing a factory head unit I've had lying around. I bought it off a guy from a Facebook group who had installed a Bluetooth unit in place of the tape deck (the Bluetooth plays over a blank CD). It works great - love the factory look. Before: After:

213xxxkm Cosmetic update. 35% tints and chrome blackout wrap (satin) done by Wrap Innovations. Interior trim switched out for the 3D cube version. I sourced this from Weitz. I thought it was plastic but it's actually alloy. I think it adds a richer texture to the cabin than the previous plastic ones. I also got the antenna module from Weitz too but that hasn't fixed my remote key woes. Next up is some beefier spring pads in the rear and a wheel alignment. (edited these pics on my phone so the colour is abit weird)
