So I found what is now one of my favourite videos on the internet. It is of a BMW Hill-Climb event at the Chelsea Sugar Factory near Birkenhead on Auckland's North Shore, in 1992! The value of some of the cars hurtling up the hill is insane! Cheeky E28 M535, E30 M3, 2002 Turbo and what looks to be a 3.0CSI among numerous M-Tech E30s, E24s, old 2002s and E12s.

My nephew needs to regretfully sell his pride and joy, so I'm putting it out here for feed back on value etc, and seeing if there is any interest from members before throwing it out to trademe etc.. This is a well spec'd example and of course has had a manual conversation performed by myself, as well has some other essential retrofits.. The manual conversion has the 330i Getrag S5D 320 with the 2.93 ratio diff and driveshaft. It has a new clutch kit from a 328, all stock parts so no mod cert required. (done approx 10k ago.) The cooling system has a new radiator, thermostat and manual gearbox parts fitted (trans cooler removed) when converted, including the electric fan only as per original manual cars. Just replaced the alternator bearings and regulator. New tyres front and rear. New battery about a year ago. Retrofitted stuff: Navigation Mk4 unit and latest maps etc, Reverse camera, Rear park sensors, Bi-xenon headlamps, BlueBus Bluetooth phone / audio streaming. Style 71 club sport wheels, (reps) ** This is an interesting spec'd E46 with rear passenger airbags in the doors, non folding rear seats, and headlight washing with halogen lights from factory! - Australian version ?? known "issues" to note; slight oil leak from sump - not serious at this stage, but will need looking at in the future, and front bumper has had a knock and needs repair with new fog lamp. - see pic. I was thinking around the $8000 mark.. thoughts? - (yes, I know, it should have been washed with some decent photos.. ) From the Vin Decoder: ET36 325i Europe E46 (4FL) Sedan right M54 2.50 l 141 kW Rear-Wheel Drive automatic Alpinweiss 3 - 300 Leder Montana/basis-ausst./schwarz - N6SW BMW AG Rosslyn, South Africa 2004-06-02 (Wednesday) 204 Drive Version Export 205 Automatic Transmission 210 Dynamic Stability Control (dsc) 226 Sports Suspension Settings 249 Multi-function For Steering Wheel 261 Side Airbag For Rear Passengers 338 M Sports Package Ii 354 Green Stripe Windscreen 411 Window Lifts, Electric 428 Warning Triangle 441 Smokers Package 473 Armrest, Front 481 Sport Seats F Driver/front Passenger 495 3. Thankyou Nice to know folks are looking and interested given its a bit of a departure to the standard projects round these here parts hah And I hope to be able to show you !! Was really hoping to be mobile over summer but its not looking too likely ... at the rate things are moving at present I'll still be making the headers !! Once I can fire it by turning the BMW key that should spur me on. At some point soonish the oiling system has to be completed also and that's not going to be pleasant on the wallet ๐Ÿ˜•

At the time I looked there were a lot of UK cars. Manual seats, halogen lights, no back up camera, cloth /not heated seats, auto boot etc. There are also multiple versions of iDrive screen. Of course that stuff is all 'luxury' - but once you have it it's hard to go back. The X3s just seemed to have more sh*t. And often 'all' the sh*t. More of them too.

We have a M20B27 plus a GS6-37DZ with flywheel/starter available. Only the 4 cyl diesel variants bolt up correctly.

Has anyone see nthe Hell red example mentioned that had 20,000kms? I recall hearing about it when it had like 13,000 kms on the clock. Apparently lives in Auckland somewhere. A friend of mine owns 2 540i's - a hell red and a cosmos schwarz. Great cars.

Fixed the twisted seat in my e34. Reclining adjustment on the right hand side was stuck causing the seat to twist. Was a bit of a mission though.

Nice writeup, but most here are savvy enough not to ever own this engine so you efforts maybe a bit in vain. Be prepare to play a game of wac-a-mole with the numerous other coolant fittings. Luckily you can do repairs as ive seen multiple people sink money into these and end up taking it out on the workshop.

Been busy so this thing's been on the back burner for a while but there's been a bit of progress. I'll finish it eventually ? Put the engine and gbox in so we could get some idea of where everything will go. The clutch hardline I had was from a pfl which are apparently slightly different, and as this car was originally auto, there was no bracket where the hard line attaches to the soft line so that was a minor pain to sort out. The manifold, FMIC and piping, downpipe, wastegate plumbing, and exhaust have all been done now. Chris Wratt from CWC Engineering has done all of the fab work on this. Hopefully get back into it over Christmas and start making the loom and get the dash flocked and fitted. We'll see.

Decided we'll sell the Baur. ๐Ÿ˜ญ Practicality is making this decision. Prices have risen dramatically, and we're trying to do a couple of expensive things, one of which is build a roof to live under. Sad times.
