So after quite some time my shed is nearing build completion. Auckland Covid delays mean they are months behind. Just ordering the 4 post hoist. And I may have scored a 2 poster very cheap too. Working out which floor coating/carpet I am going to order. Getting a run of ply made made. Security system is all installed. Ubiquity gear for the entire network and security (awesome stuff). Buy it using a US address and payment method to save hundreds over PB Tech if possible. I think I ended up saving $700USD all up... Then after nearly 7 years I can pull out the E34 from it's container and bring it to it's new home. Ready for a full tear down and rebuild (it had race fuel left in it ). Now off to spend way too much time figuring out the best floor coating.

Basically went overseas for 4 years & car sat outside for 4 years (terrible, I know). The repaired rust spots all came back + some new ones. Fortunately, I've got a garage now, so I'll be repairing this myself in next few months & keep it dry in future. Full strip of interior, sound deadening & panels, so I can find it all so left over rust can't keep eating away at the fresh patches.

The fact that he’s put “questions won’t be answered on this forum” make it look even more suspect to me.

HD91 is the ECE build for E34 M5, HD93 was the US car (only built ‘90-‘93 as well) https://bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=12

Yeah, not enough boot space for me, "needs" to be a touring!!

Probably need at least a few k spent on it like most but you'd get it back over time.

Heard a rumour that this has been re-shelled which might explain things - '93 M5 should have the 3.8 engine too. bimmer.work has been giving some rather odd results lately for VIN checks too.

Must have been in a masochistic mood as finally got around to doing a proactive ‘rust hunt’ in the E30. I already need to get some professional work done on the sunroof / tray / boot lid later in the year as funds allow but I wanted to go through and find anything else I can clean up and treat myself to nip in bud. Findings (presumably typical): Bit of surface rust on front jacking points Small patch of surface rust on firewall below my well and truly buggered ‘Elephant drain’ but came off easily with a wire brush. Reasonable amount of surface rust on boot seal ‘seam’ including a small area that I managed to turn into a couple of little holes. Will get this all cleaned up well, treated and order a new drain and boot seal. Not sure on approach with the little holes on the boot seal area (about a 1/3rd pea size) - would bog work here just to plug the hole, or would welding be best?

Ahh yes, the “all original” 325i Vert that has (just from the photos) non-original wheels, suspension, boot spoiler, exhaust and head unit. Does look in good nick though.

Will do. Hopefully should have some time over the next few weekends to get some work done on the old girl. The VRSF exhaust is massive 3.5” right through 😎

My FCP order finally arrived with all my fresh badges etc - installed new M badges / boot Roundel / 325i letters and new front grilles - so much better. Also did my first polish on it with CarPro Fixer - fantastic one stage product - decent cutting power but leaves a glossy finish. Took some decent clear coat scratches out despite being just a hand job 😬 Finished with some CarPro Hydro2 - Plenty of room for improvement but definitely looking ‘good enough’ for now. Drivers door desperately needs some paintless dent removal to tide me over till I get half the car painted post rust work later in 2022. Looking forward to moving back to our house in Feb where I’ll have a dedicated space to really get cracking with this car - will be buying a decent DA polisher and doing a 2 stage paint correction ASAP amongst a million other things 🤣

Glacier Blue E30 325i with beaucoup'Hartge kit - wheels / spoiler / dash plaque on plate E30H27, so a stroker kit as well I suppose.

the sunroof panel is, as is the cassette. if you are doing a full roof swap, then yes the sheet metal part number with BMW is the same, obviously B pillars are welded in a different place. If you pull off the A and C pillar trims you will see where the roof was welded on. i think you need you unstitch the rear sear back and parcel shelf to do it the way BMW would, but been a while since i looked closely.

Took her out for my first sustained seat time - a good 3-4 hours exploring the Whitford / Pohutakawa Coast / Clevedon / Kawakawa Bay / Kaiua. Was an absolute blast, aside from choosing the hottest day of summer so far and my AC not working - nothing the windows couldn't handle to be fair. Looking forward to doing this fantastic drive again after I've fully serviced her plus a full suspension refresh.

@E28E30 @Cammsport Modified reverse RDS with custom text (can have anything up to 8 characters) arrived today from Estonia in a week 😎 Very very happy - unit itself is mint including display and actually sounds pretty good - I also have option of adding amplifier too with optional RCA pre-outs. Genuine plug and play (installed after a long liquid lunch). Was about $700 landed so not cheap but hard to go past for the stock look and modern functionality - looks much better than the Blaupunkt SQR46 IMO which gets mixed reviews. FullSizeRender.mov

Waiting on Fed Ex to deliver my car parts so kept myself busy for an hour or so taking to 33 years of filth with a wire brush, some degreaser and Aerospace 303 to get the M20 looking presentable until I get round to restoring the manifold / valve cover / AFM / brake-booster properly next year. Was supposed to be a much more thorough job but decided in the heat that an 80% effort was good enough!
