Ive been pounding on a supercheap DA for years now (one of the green ones) and it still goes hard. Its done some pretty hard work. I did change the backing plate for a standard 5" one to use normal size Hexlogic pads, which was available on ebay. Not sure if they still use the bigger backing plate.

Bought a DA polisher from SCA over the weekend for $100 and had a go with it. So much easier than doing it by hand! Although still need to hand do some of the fiddly bits. Would recommend for anyone wanting to get started with a DA.

On the subject of EWS. With a blank key ..going under the dash and programming a new key eith an onchip programmer is a 3 minute process. With the correct equipment it doesn't take that much longer on the newer CAS vehicles. You then break the lock barrel and away you go. For these high value high target vehicles. You need layered protection. An aftermarket GPS tracker with remote fuel kill is essential. Under $500 with fitting. Also a steering wheel lock...it won't slow down a pro for too long but every little helps. This won't have been a random act.

A 300HP Z4 that is not a Z4M. 1 of 167 RHD models made. 1 of 2 in N.Z Priced about the same as a Z4M roadster or coupe. An interesting car, but just a few too many BMW badges for me. They would soon be changed to Alpina badges if it was mine. Need to distinguish it from other Z4's a bit more. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/z4/listing/3552426877?bof=TYwpqE4v

Hey Folks, First time Bimmer owner, just stepped out of a Mk4 Golf shopping tolley and into an '07 320i M Sport a week ago, I know nothing about BMWs, yet, but I'm hoping i'll learn more along the way. Besides a bit of curb rash on the alloys and the odd blemish that's to be expected with its age it appears to be in great condition and it puts a smile on my face, so it's safe to say I'm happy. I was a member of ClubSub back when I had a Subaru and it was a great resource and community to be a part of so I had a Google and found you guys and here I am. Forgive me for the rubbish pic, I haven't had a chance to take a proper pic yet but I'll try get a few in the next couple of days and update here. That's mine on the left, workmates on the right ('11 325i) Cheers!

Ah right. So I had similar issues with my 6-er when I replaced CIC idrive with NBT. It could be that this was a hardware swap to NBT Evo and the antenna was not connected to the correct port on the head unit. I recall that on CIC cars the swap to EVO would require new antenna amps etc, but for EVO to ID5 the swap whould be straight forward. It could also be a coding issue on the head unit. Maybe reach out to the guys at AutoGravity and ask them to run a diagnostic. They are very knowledgable on the topic.

Finally fixed it, and upgraded. VRSF Intercooler, Catless down-pipe, and charge pipe installed. Flashed to MHD 2+, it's definitely a quick wee car. Enough for me for now! Took it for a drive and met up with some other BMW people, one being this tidy 335i, looked pretty good together.

Put in some additional / thicker spring pads in the E30 front and rear to raise it 5-10mm all-round, along with new front brake pads while I was at it. Subtle changes - Extra 6mm rear spring pads in the rear and added 9mm and 3mm front spring shims - fair bit of work but I'm *very* happy with it now - ride height is aesthetically perfect for me - its still quite low, but getting in and out of my driveway now is less of a challenge (still scrapes if not careful but margin of error is higher now). Height is very even now, with the 16's and Ad08Rs filling out the arches perfectly.

Tidied her up for some 'for sale' photos - has been faultless since the big service in October and cleaned up really nice. Will be putting it on TM, should be a good deal for someone wanting to look a bit flash on a budget as we took all the big maintenance hits on it for the next while!

Understand your upset about your loss but, that’s a big accusation. There’s plenty of non-BMW people that offer cheap keys, didn’t think it could be one of them? No-one in the NZ BMW network can “create” a key, they are all ordered from Munich using the VIN number. All key new requests are logged through the parts system so it is easy to see if a new key has been ordered for a car should this happen. Would be pretty dumb to lose your job stealing an E46 M3 when there are thousands of more valuable BMWs out there.
