So borrowed the wife’s 2017 cx5 diesel today which has istop. In the time we’ve owned it istop timer was 7.5 hours in 80,000 kms. In the last 10000 kms it saved 91kms of diesel so 6.4 litres of fuel or $19.almost immaterial. However, on the commute home the engine was at zero emissions for. 25% of the travel time. To me the fuel savings of one tank of gas over the 80,000 kms is neither her or there and any fuel savings will be offset by the cost of a new car battery with the extra start cycles reducing its service life. But the 7.5 hours of zero emissions is worth consideration. Disclaimer ….. this post used .12grams of carbon.

100% for me the 130 or 135 with out staggered big rear rubber would lose a lot of character. I pulled the trigger on Dunlops, and some 400 style 18's, as well as some window tints. Will post some pics this weekend before and afters. 2 x DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX 050+ 225/40/18/92/Y 2 x DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX 050+ 255/35/18/94/Y

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3648986027?bof=IrBZy8fb Specs NZ New 1990 E30 325i sedan Over the last 6 years of ownership I have done the following: (when i say 'new' they obviously aren't new now, however has not done many km's also in that 6 years) Driveline: Manual conversion using a Getrag 260, new guibo, input/output seals and spigot bearing, new master and slave cylinder, braided clutch line, new reservoir. New Trans mounts Rebuilt driveshaft (new U joints) and new hanger bearing and bushing LSD 3.73 with a powerflex diff bush UUC short shifter with a garagistic DSSR linkage Suspension: Koni adjustable dampening shocks all round matched with H&R sport springs and E90 top hats, meyle HD sway bar links and meyle HD rear shock mounts Lemforder M3 LCA bushings to dial out a bit of negative camber from the lowering springs at the front. Brakes: Rotors have a bit of a lip so these will need to be done sooner rather than later. Stainless steel braided lines fitted, otherwise factory. Engine: Stock M20b25. General maintenance on the engine. I've replaced the injectors with newer Bosch ones Part#: 13-64-1-468-812-M14 New leads, distributor & rotor, spark plugs, oil pan gasket (starting to weep already) Replaced all the cooling hoses and expansion tank (still running factory radiator) New fuel pressure regulator. Has a chip in the ECU tuned for 95 petrol. Valve cover gasket and those little half moons replaced. Fuel pump and fuel filter (and hoses) replaced with proper VDO unit. General: Boot seal replaced, New taillight gaskets, aerial + grommet, 3.5mm jack into headunit via RCA inputs wired under the console and coming out at the ash tray. Cup holders, BMW exhaust tips (these cars came with raw pipes sticking out the back) , 370mm Mtech II steering wheel, clutch stop to take the slack out of the clutch throw. 4 x BMW style 5 basket weaves (spare is still a 14" bottle cap). Working aircon, converted to R134A gas (professionally by previous owner) had it re-gassed and leak tested before summer and its working great. These cars really benefit from aircon as they are such a glass house with the big windows. I didn't want to tart this car up too much with Msport parts, the steering wheel was the exception as it's a smaller diameter and actually makes a big difference to the driving feel. It has a few super market dings which i have tried to capture in these extrra photos here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tSb5xwbN8d2KFEdf4KrPNe3rF_AtnJHF?usp=sharing The steering rack will need some attention at some point as WOF man said it has a bit of play. Tyres still have reasonable life left in them at around 4.5mm

Drunken neighbour (who everyone around here just loves) has builders in attempting to glue wood together with nails in the form of a deck - FFS sooooo over the hammering. My coping mechanism is banking this hate for the day I install a basketball and netball hoop / backboard - because building a deck from 7am for weeks on end is temporary, playing ball with my daughter will last a lifetime. So yeah, I can also make council approved noise and have a bunch of fun And when that fails, I can just idle my Subaru with the 3" exhaust cut out open - mmmm big cams.

I would argue a little understeer (which I have never experienced in this car, even at the track in the wet) is better than a little oversteer in a vehicle with an open diff. At the track I would prefer oversteer. On the road, understeer.

We need a skidpad and some G meters, so the internet can sleep easy at night.

Update For the cert I had to send the brake booster assembly to Wellington to the lvvta technical advisory committee to be assessed They said they would approve the design with some changes The pivot arm has to be made from 8mm steel (mine was 6mm same as factory) then I have to reduce the end thickness to fit the factory clevis 6mm The tube has to be fully tig welded on both sides (factory method was a mig stitch weld) Send it for non destructive testing (crack test,x ray?) So getting that underway now Its good to know these guys are making sure everything is as safe as it can be, While that was away for a month I decided to get the heater working,I put a new o ring in the heater tap because 1st leak,I re rounded the alloy heater pipe ends because leak 2,I removed heater core and took the end tanks off because leak 3. I really should have done all that before I put the carpet back in Im not sure if they’re worth trying to repair? Or are they all going to be close to being past there best before date? If I can even find one……
