Weekend away to Taupo/Mt Ruapehu in the 535i. 8.8L/100km for the trip including up/down the mountain and cruising around Taupo. It was into the 7.x range on the way down from Hamilton. Pretty damn good for a large 3.0 turbo station wagon.

6 speed manual with all the m-sport goodies (seats, suspension, staggered wheels). Don't be put off by the km's this car has had no expense spared on the mechanicals as the kids were driving it and in our ownership it's been 1 hour+ journey's at motorway speeds. Brand new 12 month WOF (10/06/2022), RUC's up to date, new clutch at Christmas, new windscreen last week, Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 2 (255/40/17 - rear) and Hankook K127 (225/45/17 - front) and a removable towbar. We get over 1100kms a tank doing 5.2l/100km. Aircon runs well, AUX in, some pixel issues on the stereo when the weather is hot but can still read everything. There are some cosmetic issues as you would expect from a first car. A supermarket ding, kerbed alloys and stone chips from the motorway miles. Interior is in excellent condition though. All maintenance in our ownership done by Mike Page European in Kapiti. Car will come with new standard issue number plate and not this personalised plate. 268k kms Asking $7k Located in Kapiti. Full details on the auction and listed elsewhere. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3683501287?bof=QhmtLwSz

Last night got the super thick power cables (starter, alternator and engine fuse box) under control finally with some nice rubber lined P clips. Also reinstalled the OEM PCV lines. Most exciting news is the arrival of the first batch of custom anodised AN fittings, along with finding a 3D model online of the shift boot surround so i can convert my accidentally purchased LHD boot to a RHD one

Ahhh.... the beauty of the English language... My personal preference is more along the lines of... "No disrespect intended, but I think that you are acting like a bell end !!!"

Took the mighty 116d to work this morning, luckily Friday & school holidays meant very little traffic so driving a manual wasn’t too much of a drag. Fingers crossed getting home will be the same!

Few more things to add to the list, before I forget. Really keen to switch the cluster displays from the silly km/L to L/100km that I'm more used to. Have already got the physical backing sheet/plate, will need to figure out how to code the digital display to reflect the same, whether I need to dig around the DME or the cluster itself to get there and if it's even possible. Got a tired 12-year old laptop last weekend and finally went through the trouble of setting up all the BMW standard tools on it, the INPAs & NCS Experts of the world, will start acquainting myself with the ins and outs of it in the coming weeks. Possible LSD conversion - will first throw in the 2.93 diff I got with the manual conversion to see whether it's as sluggish as some reports suggest. Further down the line might give this RacingDiffs conversion a go on the 3.38 auto diff in case if I ever feel brave enough to take on some track days. Reviews look pretty good and for the money seems pretty good value. I suspect it's fine with the speed sensors being in the wheel hubs but just to make sure - going from an auto box with a 3.38 to a manual with a 2.93, I won't need to muck about with recalibrating the speedo, will I? Might just play around and get it to show the actual, non-exaggerated speed.

Thought I would get the ‘inner interior’ all nice before the re-upholstered interior goes back in next week. Shampoo’d the carpets, cabin and boot, repainted most interior plastics and put in some sound deadening (mix of butyl and foam I had in the basement) in the spare wheel well, boot, inner rear quarters / arches and doors while I was at it. Came up well, save a few little coffee stains on passenger side that are ordinarily covered by the seat anyway. Can’t wait to get the new seats, door cards and floor mats in!

Fun day scavenging at Pick-A-Part today. Pretty chuffed with the boot liner especially, didn't know that was an option for sedans.

Not by the time you factor in RUC… 😁 And it was dearer than 91 from the pump a few weeks back!
