  1. sorry to revive an old thread but Im also doing this conversion soon. i have a g250 box and a M52B28 coming from japan. how much performance gains would i expect if i fit a set of S5x ITBs and a decent exhaust manifold?

  2. Hey mate how did you undo the bolts on the steering column to drop it down? They have weird security heads on them I think. I thought id ask before I go and cut the heads off.

Yeh i used a die grinder to cut a slot in the heads then used a screw driver to remove them. Just ran with standard hex bolts on it now. :)

  3. Being a BMW and Pug owner, I spotted the blue Pug in one of your pics :)

    Is is a GTi/6 or a Xsi ?

Great work on the BMW BTW :)

Thanks. Its an xsi with an s16 engine swap gone from 80hp 8v to 155hp 16v :D heaps of fun.. heres engine pre install and car as she sits now :)

  4. How hard is that foam to cut / shape? Could you get a 1m steel rule / straight edge and sharpen one side. And and run it over the roof giving it a clean cut ? If you get what i mean. Just an idea

Not quite that easy unfortunately although that is possible with a hotwire of which i dont have... i just used a hacksaw blade and gently shaved it down. Will post more pics up shortly..

  5. So today i started filling the roof hole in with pouring foam. Needs filling and sanding etc after the general shape is made and then i will fibreglass over the top.

The theory is that when the fibreglass is set i can pull away the foam and be left with a roof skin.

final picture is a roll of kevlar im going to use just to give it more strength and hopefully stop fg splinters coming through in the event of a roll over.

Will post more pics as i make more progress.

  7. Hi i need an m62b44 (not tu) short block ie block, sump, crank, rods and pistons etc. Also after m60b40 heads, front timing cover, crank collar (2 row chain), inlet manifold and rocker covers etc

Im wanting to build a hybrid m6b44 engine so not really after two complete engines unless they are damaged and very cheap so i can rebuild.

  8. Bottom one looks rad, was going to do the same. Only because I figured if I crashed or got hit in to, I could just replace the panel and throw some random patches onto it.

Yeh those were my thoughts too plus camo hides dents and body imperfections really well so will take more knocks before panel needs replacing

  9. Why not do the roof in the same colour as well? Looks a bit odd imho. Another thought, probably a bit late in the piece, have you thought of converting to left hand drive? You are using it for racing, right?

I did play around with that but it looked too much like a magic eye puzzle.. and yes i thought about it but couldnt be bothered with the hassle of swapping everything over ie dash and wiring loom for guages.

  10. Just wanting to find out.

Will you need to get compliance or certs for all this work being done or is it just for the track??

This car wont be allowed to drive on NZ roads ???

As i havnt made any structural changes to the car only the lexan rear window, fibrelass roof and fuel tank relocation will need certifying. Apart from that it will be fully road legal as all the other panels are direct bolt on and dont weaken the original structure.

rollcage has a log book but will need an authority card to be used on the road. No biggie at this point though.

So in short yes it will be legal for the road...
