  1. hey Matt - welcome, I'm a bit of a newbie too, in H Town. Keep an eye out - silver E36 coupe with bimmersport stickers. Phil
  2. what sort of price are M3 headers, and do they ever come up for sale? Are any other mods needed [ie - do they end at a flange at same place as standard 328?]. thanks guys, this thread is really helping!
  3. cheers westy - appreciate your input. Interesting that you reckon there's a good benefit even without any other work. So, did you do the work, and are there any issues or pitfalls. I assume it isn't quite a simple bolt on?!
  4. hey - thanks for your input. Seems to be some real disagreement around this mod - some people say it destroys midrange, some not. Anyone out there done the mod and can give me real world experience? also, I think I read somewhere [maybe a recent issue of BMW mag] that some sort of spacer is needed too?
  5. hi guys I recently bought a kiwi-new E36 328i MSport [manual] and it's lovely but could use some more grunt. I have also bought a 325 inlet manifold, and done some reading. I understand that fitting it [with a tune] will give more peak bhp, at the expense of mid range. Has anyone done comparable dyno runs on this - ie- dyno run, swap manifold, tune, and re- dyno to compare? How MUCH midrange would I be likely to lose? Also, various experts on here seem to suggest that exhaust mods are a better bet - what mods are recommended? Are we talking headers, or a better pipe? Any recommended setup? What about manifold, tune AND exhaust? Bearing in mind my car is a '97 NZ spec car, is the ECU able to be reprogrammed by a tuner without chip swap? TIA, Phil
  6. hi guys, I'm new here, see my post in Newbies area. I really need to make space for my latest purchase, so my much loved 740 has to go. Briefly - tidy NZ new, green, lowered on optional 18s. Obviously prices have dropped on cars like this, so I'm being realistic. On top of this I *really* need the space as my 328 is on the street . check it out -> Phil's crazy cheap 740i . I know Buy Now is 7.5k, trademe won't let me change that. If someone here is keen, they are welcome to click the buy now, and pay me 6k as pictured [does not incl the 16s or mufflers mentioned in auction text]. This must surely set a new low for a decent E38, best of all it's not an ex-Singapore headache. Someone please take it and love it
  7. hey, I'm sure it'll be in a FAQ, but how do I add a pic as a sinature at bottom of my posts?
  8. ha! i guess. Now I'm approaching misspent middle age...... Never tried it - but I was told you just need to put in a SIM card and it will work.Sorry the 328 pic failed - must be only viewable for Facebook memberS? anyway, the new car is a silver/red leather standard 328i M Sport Coupe. Will get a bimmersport sticker on there soon P edit [bravo] quote tags fixed
  9. hi guys After owning a few BMWs [E21 323i, E32 735i NZ new, E34 540i NZ new...] I currently have an E38 740i [NZ new... spotting the theme yet?] with a few gentle mods. Well, I don't plan on having it much longer - she's not getting used much so has gotta go - $6k from a bimmersport person would own it this week -> Phil's bloody cheap 740i So, the reason I joined up - last night I bought a very tidy NZ new E36 328i coupe, M Sport, manual, red leather. nice car, pretty good price! Will attach a pic if I can work out how. No big plans for it except lens swap, and some nicer wheels, maybe the M3 replicas, or similar. Keen on recommendations, prob 17s, maybe 18s. 328i M Sport dunno if this link will work. Other toys include my daily hack - turbo diesel Citroen. Don't laugh, they're great, it's my 7th. And my other toy.... Greddy turbo, I/C, etc, currently low boost only, 184bhp, soon to fix that!. ......... Keen to chat with any other local BMW guys that can advise me, or offer some nice wheels. Good to be here, cheers, Phil
