  1. To be an even bigger pain in the azz ...2003 e46 330i with cam and headers . 2003 e53 x5 4.4. . 2008 e70 x5 4.8. 2006 e60 550i. And recently aquired 2010 e70 x5m 4.4 twin turb
  2. Hey all. Im searching for an e34 530v8 manual. I know they are rare in manual but there has to be one laying around somwhere. Condition not important although better condition is obviously better .. thanks all
  3. Hey all. Im looking for an e39 m5. Cash buyer . Show me what you got . Nothing butchered please.
  4. Yes for sure . The 4.8 is defo the winner but then one is an m62 and the otherr an n62 . Ive never driven a 4.4 n62
  5. Forgot to mention . Both my e70 and e60 i have mbi and both through turners. I didnt purchase either cars through them but jist took them in and had apraised and then got the insurance .the e70 has 10k claim limit and the e60 has 4k . 10k for e70 as alot more expensive to repair with airbags etc . For 3 years on the e70 with 10k claim was $1800. The only thing i dont like about mbi is you have to put it in to be serviced which isnt cheap .Im quite fussy and do all my own services at 5 thousand k for oil and filter and all the rest at 10thou k . . I still service mine every 5thou but then at 10thou have to put into shop to be done which annoys me
  6. The e53 is my work wagon and the e70 is just because i can lol. I also have an e46 330i and a e60 540i. I just love them . The 330 and the 540 hardly get driven to be honest . Its hard to go from the x5 to a lower car myself . Hmmm differences . Apart from the obvious of one being a 4.4 and the other a 4.8 ...i do kinda find the e53 not as cramped inside . Im 6ft3 and the e53 seems to have more room . The e70 certainly has a better trans .not quite as smooth but changes alot different to the old gm box e70 not as hard suspension as the e53 and i prefer the e53 steering myself . Not quite as loose . I have mechanical insurance on the e70 but e53 do all the spanner work myself . I guess i have to admit . Im an addict
  7. I have a 2003 4.4 x5. Absolutely love it . Timing chains done at 190k . Currently sitting at 219k . I also have an e70 4.8 x5 but for some reason love driving the e53 more . Little niggly things with the e53 . Just today a rear heater hose split but meh . 30 buks and its fixed . Rear suspension needs a lot of work regulary to keep rear tyres from uneven wear as not cheap for 285 tyres . Reality ...i wouldnt change my e53 4.4 for the world. Love it
  8. Yes referring to chain tensioner . This was replaced at time of doing guides etc less than 20thou kms ago and was a genuine part .still started to fail which i turn would have destroyed guides
  9. Hi all . Just thought id share my experience with this engine in my e53 x5 with m62tu44 . For starters brilliant engine although many wont agree ? my paticular m62 has been meticulously looked after and maintained in every way .less than 20 thou kms ago timing chain. Guides, tensioners , vanos, numerous seals etc all replaced ..purely for preventive maintenance. However a few days ago i noticed a slight fluttering sound on cold start up and it defo wasnt vanos . This was after having replaced everything when guides and chain were done ..After a few days i decided to order a new guide tensioner ( the tensioner that bolts into side of block on drivers side ) bam problem solved .such a simple thing to replace ( without removing anything other than air box etc and using a 19mm with a knuckle connection) and saved thousands in an eventual guide failure . From now on i will replace this tensioner every second service or 20 thou kms . For $159 couriered to your door ...why wouldnt you . ??
  10. Mate i have no idea why he put any in at all . If he had of checked the dipstick he would have seen level was good .
  11. Hey guys . Just to update . So it turns out the vibration was because the engine had too much oil .low oil light came on while my wife was using the car so she pulled into service station and the attendent put 2 litres in . It of course wasnt low but a faulty oil level sensor . ..the noise turns out to be vanos although the seals were done when guides and chain were replaced . I replaced the timing chain tensioner as well just to be on the safe side .??
  12. Hi .yes chain ,guides all seals etc were replaced a little over 15thou kms ago .at first i thought is was front of engine which made me think fan clutch but there is no play etc in bearing . I. Leaning more towards under vehicle and noise coming up to front
  13. Hi all. Have recently aquired an x5 4.4 m62tu 2003. She has 200k km on clock and is in imaculate condition . Previous owner has done everything possible to keep engine running beautifully and that she does . However last couple days have heard a weird fluttering npice upon starting . At first thought was the fan clutch although it was replaced not to long ago . It does sound more coming from under the vehicle . Which leads me to think torque convertor . . Now today on idle in park or drive a noticable vibration through cabin at idle which leads me to think mounts . In saying this .the engine purrs like a kitten and the trans itself seems smoother than my e60 540i and that only has 50k on the clock . Any one else have or had this problem or some advice would be greatly appreciated . Cheers steve
