  1. Think that was me if you drive a mint E28. My wife saw us checking out each other's cars, shook her head and muttered 'boys and their BMWs' ha
  2. No worries I'm still keen on a ZHP knob. Seen several selling on ebay for around US$80. Let me know when you are close to an order?
  3. I have been on the look out for a ZHP knob and boot combo but don't seem to be available in NZ. I haven't been proactive on it as it isn't really a priority. Richard I am keen to do a piggyback and we could split the shipping?
  4. Saw a mint M-Tech e30 sedan (MY E30) on SH16 around St Lukes, was trying to catch up to you to toot but you were going too fast!

    Go-Peds

Thanks I have considered using a bike or a moped, they are both quicker, safer and legal. However the most appealing feature of a goped for me is the ability to fold the handle and carry it on to a train or in a car boot. I take the point about the power too, might have to test ride one to see what they are really like. Kulgan that is a wicked scooter, haha old school is still cool

    Go-Peds

I have been thinking of getting one of those Goped motorised scooters for short commutes (local train station or dairy). Does anyone own one or used to have one and can give me a bit of review/comment on what they are like? They seem like a lot of fun but could potentially be dangerous and noisy for the neighbours. Also where could you buy them in Auckland?
  7. Smart Car Rental off Nelson Street. I hired a black facelift E65 from there for my wedding last year. Good prices but you have to make it clear to them you want an E65. Even specifically booking for an e65 they tried to offload a X5 to me a couple of nights before.
  8. I need some advice relating to shocks and springs I have in my e30. The car is making knocking noises from the left rear every now and then and I guess the shock is on its way out. The car has Bilstein springs and shocks; they give a good drop in height while giving me a firm but comfortable ride. This has come at a bad time and I don't have a lot of money to spare on the car, so I am looking at a financially prudent option. A few questions: Is it worth while for me to rebuild the Bilstein shocks? How much approx for new replacements? What are other alternative brands out there that could provide a similar level of drop/ride? Not sure if this has been covered in the forum before, a quick search hasn't turned up much. Thanks any advice would be great as I have never dealt with suspensions before
  9. I feel for you buddy. I had my car restored and fully repainted, straight away the next day some dickhead left a trolley dent on my passenger door. Left a sour taste till this day (the dent is still there to remind me of it) I now park as far away as possible
  10. Looks great, a twin to my black Mtech II! Have you found the throw and precision improved by quite a bit? Keen to do the same as I'm finding too much play with the Z3 short shifter Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
  11. I had a 3.0L Z4 before and it was as good as a roadster could be for sub $30k. Surprisingly quiet for a convertible and feels relatively rigid. However the one issue that I had with mine was water leaking into the boot. Apparently it is a design flaw where water would enter the boot if it is parked on an incline. The carpet and trunk floor absorbed all the water and over time leaked into the well where the amp and other electronic components are housed. My amp fried and replacement was $2000. Couldn't find the leak in the end, so replaced all the seals and drilled a little hole in well to avoid possible ponding.

    LED Bulbs

There are canbus-error free LED bulbs for sale on Trade me, worked for my 07 Z4 before
  13. I have been looking at a ZHP knob as well. If anyone is getting one I am keen to piggyback for an extra one and split the shipping.
  14. Earphones are always a bit of an unknown cos you can't test them in stores. I would like to go with the the likes of Sennheiser and Bose, but I have never tried their in-ears and I have a feeling that they probably won't be as good value for money compared to lesser known standouts. I prefer the in-ears, the ones that have a rubber bud going all the way into the ear, as they could isolate outside noise and give you better sound without going loud. Took the advice above and did some reading on Head-Fi... picked out some potential earphones- Shure SE215 Klipsch Image S4 II Final Audio Design Heaven II Grado iGi Sennheiser CX300 II Anyone has experience with the above? I will go check out the Monster Lil Jamz at JB Hi-Fi on Thursday
  15. The decals are good quality. Just for added protection I sprayed a few gloss clear coats over the plate (with the decals) before putting them on the car. It has been at least a year and it hasn't chipped, faded or peeled.
