  1. Good work! It should have come with the black grille from factory in my opinion. Yeah, the iDrive Jog Dial works great with Android Auto. Question on your one, did you lose the feature where the top down camera automatically comes on in a tight space? Mine will only flick out to the camera if I put it in reverse. So I have to back out to the standard iDrive system if I want to use the top down camera when going forward. Bit of a pain but not the end of the world. That looked like it would have been an epic trip. With the M50D you wouldn't even know you were towing. Haha, lucky on the Kia front! They sure love ripping a nice car to shreds! Yep, she is a heavy beast but as you say, once you get to know the handling characteristics, it's surprisingly how well it goes around a corner...at speed. Helps with Sport+ on too. Re the coding. First thing I always do too (I have the Carly app/module). Can't stand auto start/stop. Or the window stopping from going up when you open the door. I had an F80 M3 where I disabled the active sound. Seemed wrong to have it on a car like that. But I don't mind it in a diesel X5. It helps to hear what's going on too if you are driving it in the twisties using the paddles. But it needs to be subtle. Anyway, great to hear that you are enjoying it! They are so practical and yet sooo powerful. Love stomping the pedal getting into the motorway or overtaking. Still puts a stupid grin on my face. P.S. I wouldn't have a clue what my gas mileage is. But I know it's not good based on how I drive it 😂
  2. Missed this thread 4 months ago! Whoops. How are you finding the M50D? I have had one for the past 5 years and still LOVE it. I can't think of another vehicle I would replace it with (bar maybe an X5M). It has been very reliable. I have only had to do two things in that time of ownership, replace the front rotors and replace the front control arms. Did you get Android Auto retrofitted? I had that done on mine by Audio City in Auckland. With a 10.4" screen it looks fantastic. I think another small mod well worth doing, is changing the grilles to black. I think the chrome/grey ones on the M50D look a bit weird. Personal preference though of course
  3. The number plate says it all...
  4. Congrats! The 987 is a great car! Especially in manual
  5. That’s a beautiful looking M3. Ooh new toy! Is it a 997?
  6. Spot the irony with your license plate... 😂
  7. Yeah, 40th Anniversary of Knight Rider this weekend
  8. That Ducati is beeeeautiful! Love it in yellow too. Such a contrast to the usual red. The Mini sounds like a fun build too!
  9. Totally understand. Everyone's situation is different. And the F80 M3 is still a phenomenal car. I just still talk about my E46 M3 like it was the best girlfriend I ever had but left for a younger model who I didn't get on with. Regrets... haha This bike of yours sounds interesting? What is it? And what is the project? (Also sorry for hijacking your thread lol)
  10. Having both is definitely the answer . If you do get an F80 and it has the stock exhaust, as a quick hack - set the exhaust flaps to be permanently open! Improves it a lot (still not as good as it should be but it's certainly better). I had a dongle that permanently plugged into the ODB port and you could control it via the OBC stalk.
  11. Don't do it! Keep the E46 M3 forever! I only have one regret in life and that was selling mine! Four years ago I sold my E46 to an enthusiast (who won't sell it back to me no matter what I offer him haha) and my X5 and bought an F80 M3. At first I loved the F80 but my excitement for it quickly waned. The E46 was under covers and on a charger - brought out on a perfectly sunny day to head up South Head or around the Hunua Ranges. It was an experience every time. Whereas, the F80 was a daily as well as a weekend car. I think that was the mistake. It lost its specialness since I was in it every day. Plus I went from a manual to DCT. DCT is great and all...but it's not a manual. I think the clincher for me was the sound it made - the exhaust note leaves a lot to be desired (at least when compared to the S54). Anyway, I'm only being part serious. The F80 is a fantastic car. But all I'm saying is that if I could go back in time 4 years, I would punch myself in the throat for even thinking of selling it The silver lining is that selling it indirectly got me into a Z4 M Coupe (which also has the S54 if you aren't familiar with it) and a 1M which I still have And I will 100% NEVER sell them. I have told my partner that if I ever even utter a word about selling (which I won't) she has full rights to hit me over the head with the frypan.
  12. Beautiful! If that's a true CS, they're almost as rare these days as the CSL!
  13. Guess I'll just keep on, keeping on. Love the M50D anyway...
  14. I have the earlier tri-turbo diesel in my F15 X5 M50D and can attest that this engine is a torque monster (376hp / 740Nm). It would be even better in a lighter vehicle such as a 5 series wagon! Think I found my next car
  15. Given the rims, looks like a CS... Don't see many of those around these days.
  16. I had to have a double take on the photo of the M3! It looks almost identical to a photo I took of my old one in a car park… (Also thanks for reminding me how much I miss that car haha).
  17. Whole-heartedly agree. I have two weekend cars and neither see a drop of rain... Hell, I even hate my DD getting wet lol
  18. @Sammo I have to confess, I am so in love with your M Tech II...
  19. Over-protecting the wheels from any potential curb rash as well 😅 Lovely example though.
  20. It's great seeing an old car being looked after and loved (case in point my old 130i M-Sport that @Jacko owns now - I love reading his update thread).
  21. Someone (or the current owner) has really looked after it. According to Carjam last known km's were 274,866km in Dec 2017! Wouldn't think it was such a high km example looking at it. Oddly enough, if Carjam is correct, it barely moved for almost 2.5 years...
  22. Oh my Lord. That MTech1 deserves my a garage... It almost looks too clean to have been an outside car for very long.
  23. I think for the track, they look awesome. But for the road, the ACS Type IV's still look the mutz.
  24. Ye gads! You get to do some cool stuff with that car. Here I am super impressed with myself if I change a bit of interior trim on my own lol. Anyway, regarding the rims, I prefer the ACS Type IV's but then again, I am bias as that's my old car. But then again, I do like anything gloss white... Turning the attention away from the 130i for a second, I'm also super curious about the white drone/spaceship looking thing on the back wall! What is that?
