  1. Hi there, So i have a '85 323i that has a tired M20B23 in it and i was looking to swap in an M20B25. I am confident doing everything EXCEPT the wiring, any tips/pointers/help on this? Also because the 323 is L-jet, what will i need to change besides the engine itself and the ECU to make it a motronic? I will be keeping the auto 4 speed for now as i know its possible but once the engine is done id put in a Getrag 260. I am not doing the swap right now, just need a bit of info on what ill need to do etc. I understand things like engine mounts etc can be used, but i will be upgrading them anyways. Reasons for staying M20 and not going M50/52 is that i have been working on the engine for a while and know my way around it reasonably okay. Parts are plentiful and information is everywhere. Its a cheap simple little engine that i can handle so hence the choice if you were wondering As always, ANY help would be much appreciated as this swap isnt covered a lot on the interweb. Thanks, Rohil
  2. Fellow BMW Fanatics: Im Kurt, new member of the forum and first time poster! I purchased a 2007 e92 335i before Christmas which made for my first European car. Previously Australian v8 and more recently a 2002 200sx/S15. I wanted something a little more subtle that didn't draw as much attention and settled on the classic lines of the e92 coupe! So far only minor modifications of suspension, wheels, interior bits n bobs have been done since receiving the car stock as a rock. To do list is as follows: DCI (Intake) Jb4/cobb/remap (Unsure what route to go at this stage) Tints Angel eyes Roof Wrap (gloss black) When that's boring: Either Turbo upgrade with supporting downpipes/intercooler etc or Meth kit I look forward to meeting you friendly folk around the roads this year and trust you are all soaking up some summer sun out on NZ favourite "twisties" .

  4. Hey Guys So I'm new here and just wanted to start a thread for my BMW e46 i recently brought a month back, This is my third bimmer i have owned and I just Absolutely love it! compared to my E30 sedan and my old E36 coupe, This is a 318i tiptronic.. yes i know its only a 318i and automatic but im only 17 years old and have a automatic restricted license and cant effort the gas for a bigger engine at the moment haha bigger engine and manual conversion is on the list of to-do's! -Background on the car- I brought the car about a month ago from Rockstarcar dealership on the northShore. GREAT dealership! the car has a 3 year full mechanical warranty. Has had one previous owner and has only done 140ks I haven't got set plans at the moment of what i'm going to do just living life to every paycheck. What i do know what i will do is, New rims unsure what type,Angel eyes,lower/adjustys , carbon fibre badges Without further here are the pics i got when i first got it
  5. I disconnect my battery from the boot to get it charged by my mechanic, and now the boot is complete locked. I can't entered the boot by the boot key hole because the lock is broken (from when someone tired to break in) Can I some how connect the battery up directly to the engine bay directly to just get the boot open or does anyone have a alternative method? Cheers
  6. Over working on my car and not really in a position to keep taking it to pieces which is a real shame. It has only recently become apparent to me how much I just need to have a cheap run about instead of using my project car as a means to get from A to B so hence why I am seriously but reluctantly going to try to sell this. I have spent some hours on it so I wouldn't be happy with just giving it away so if I don't get the right price I will just hold on to it and probably park it up somewhere until I can be bothered to take the project back on and get it really nice, that may be some time though. I thought I might have a couple of decent pictures of it lying around but only this at the moment: The body work is pretty good although there are a few scratches here and there, the paint on the roof and the rear doors back has faded. It has a new engine with 132,xxx Kms on it. Radiator is new Engine oil recently done Brake rotors have been resurfaced Power steering fluid Steering bushing replaced New Brake fluid New gear box oil converted to manual (Getrag 240) Crackless dash in great condition. Battery retro fit relocated to boot 2 sets of wheels, tires. Lowered rear suspension and camber (untastefully low, not done by me. Not sure about the front) Sub, amp, 6x9's and head unit I will try and get some better pictures and some more information if anyone on here is actually interested. I thought I would start on bimmersport as I have the old engine and some spare parts I wouldn't mind getting rid of with the car if it does sell. So an enthusiast might be after the whole lot who knows. Anyway cheers.
  7. Hi folks, I own an 04 645ci (around 102k km) and am having some issues. First off I have got it booked in next week at my BMW specialist, however, it's symptoms have gotten worse and was wondering if anyone has any ideas. Catalytic Converters I'm getting a warning message saying that my there's an engine fault and that "high loads can cause damage to catalytic converters". It is accompanied by the yellow engine warning light - this has not shut off since happening around 12 pm today. On cold mornings when I'd start my car, I would get this message, but would soon disappear and have no warning light. I have recently changed the air filter to a K&N as the last filter was quite dirty. Rough Idling and Vibrating For the last week or so, it had been rough idling in the morning on a cold engine start. And the revs were going up and down and a few mornings would just stop completely, right after turning it on. Since today's messages and warning light the car has been roughly idling and vibrating heavy when I take my foot of the brake, and feels like it's grinding almost when I'm accelerating. I can every feel it vibrating quite bad behind the pedals and foot rest. Also, my fuel consumption seems really high as it says 16.4L per 100km and feels like it's chewing through the gas (95) Could the Catalytic Converters be on their way out? I haven't checked spark plugs, but I know they are due for replacement. Any advice would be much appreciated as I am concerned about driving the car in this state.
  8. Complete set of 4 original BMW alloy wheels with tyres. 15" inch diameter, 7" inch width. Standard 5x120 bolt pattern. In very good condition apart from the usual minor scuffing. Tyres are Goodyear NCT Eagles 205/55R15. 2 tyres have lots of tread left, the other 2 are borderline, but were still legal the last time I went for a WoF. Located in Christchurch. Looking for $200, but to offers.
