  1. Basically its a fuel - fuel rail - injector malfunction that is temperamental. So done me engine swap, the car runs sweet no issues then im getting this... Took the injectors out and they don't seem to be pulsing when this issues going on. I got this weird blow back through the intake when I tried to start it today. Also the fuel pump kept on whirring like it wasn't getting any fuel but had plenty in tank. Sometimes it would whirr constantly and other times I turned the key on it would prime itself then stop like normal. On other random occurrences when turning the key on the injectors would squirt suddenly as soon as the key turned on... Im guessing thats what the blow back was, as the valves would be shut and the pressure from the injectors had no where to go but vent back through the air filter. I thought at first it could be fuel pump relay sticking but then why would the injectors not be pulsing? Im guessing its a bad connection some where and ive heard that you shouldn't solder the wires on theses, is that true? as I have soldered just about every splice. Regards
  2. As per the title I've now decided it's time for another e30 Not too keen on a 4cyl (because power) but may be open to a 320i however must be manual At the moment I'm going to say I'm looking to pay around $3000 which I am well aware probably won't get me a road legal one due to the e30 tax at the moment but that's not a big issue, looking for a bit of a project anyway I say around $3000 but that obviously depends on the condition - I'm not going to pay that for your dereg farm hack, but I may give you 5 for a tidy one Not in a massive rush to get one, have a few months at least so if you are thinking of selling in the near future then let me know! Cheers guys (and girls?)

  4. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1330454018.htm goodness. a manual e30 currently under a grand. well, yes, although it's missing a couple of cylnders and its capacity could be bigger, it'd be rude gasp, then turn to point and snigger. and it's RED. From the ad, it 's a 1989 and has 300k kms... Either use as is or do some paint improvements. Drives well for it's age. A few things do not work (e.g. the auto return of the r.h. indicator after turning. Service indicator, so you need to keep an eye on it). Sold as is where is. EXTREMELY POPULAR E30 MODEL IN RED AND ***** RARE MANUAL***** surely that 666 number plate is worth something to satanists?

  7. Hi all After my introduction to bmw was cut short by finances and common sense, I have bought something with live plates this time, a 1984 320i. It looks nice and tidy, and the vendor tells me it has been brought up to a nice condition after a period of storage. Driving it home to Wellington from Auckland this weekend - any advice for tools to pack (other than roadside assistance!) or things to check before I set off would be welcome. Cheers CJ
  8. Alright fellas, i've been wanting to buy an e30 318i manual coupe since last year but every time one comes up it sells after two or so days. I am now looking at importing one. Do you guys recommend it? Do you guys know of someone who can import one for me? is it risky? I have no idea about importing e30's so maybe some of you could shed some light on it. thanks in advance
  9. hey guys im looking at buying a 1989 e30 318i and the owner has told me about these problems. how much will it cost to fix? problems are below. also am i right in assuming this car has an m40 being a 1989? carjam says the engine number is 184E. "The bema does have a few minor problems Ac belt is missing, needs replacing and there's a problem with the dash back light all the other lights still work and I think it the thermostat might need replacing as temp gauge fluctuates Let me know if you're still interested." thanks in advance!

  12. Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I bought a NZ new 1986 E30 318i just over a year ago. Its the chrome bumper version, great condition, on the original plates, and was a one owner car before me (actually 2 owners, but in the same family). It came with a full service history- main agent until around 50kms, then independent garage and had been barely used for a number of years. I bought it in Auckland and drove it to Wellington without any problems. The car has just turned over 80,000kms (from new). I live in Lower Hutt and want to get it checked over in the first instance to see what needs doing now, what will need doing in the future, to look after it well. Any recommendations as to who would be good for servicing an E30? Thank you all
  13. Whats peoples opinions on them? eg IE or HnR Wanting the wagon to handle flat out hill climbs and also be drive able on the street. Car also has more weight in under the bonnet
  14. Hi guys, So after putting up with it for most of winter I figured it's probably time to fix my busted power windows before the New Years break! Am after a couple of motors for an '89 E30 Touring (facelift model)- one for the front passenger window and one for the passenger side rear window. If anyone has any surplus of these in working order kicking round - let me know! Thanks in advance Mike

  17. if i was to daily this in the city, would it be practical in terms of fuel usage and just general wear and tear? what sort of milage would i be looking at to 100ks? also on cold mornings how long would it take to get this thing started? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1245268223.htm
  18. Hi all. I'm new and was really hoping to get an E30. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I saw this on trademe today http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1230883217 I'm looking for a weekend car, something fun and zippy. Not too much track stuff. I was wondering if it's worth getting this? Thanks!
  19. As per the title, up for sale is my e30.. Pretty damn tidy car in my opinion, 190,xxx kms with a nice straight body and a solid motor. Recent work includes: water pump/ thermostat replacement (previous owner did cam belt), new windscreen washer bottle, LCA bushings and brake hose. Was serviced in October 2016 Soon to have fresh wof and Reg Interior is nice and tidy with only one small (3cm approx) tear in the drivers seat and no other damage to seats Almost everything on this car is stock standard so would be the perfect base for a project or just a tidy daily Only issue I've found is the lock mechanism on the drivers door has imploded, however the central locking still works from the boot or passenger door and I managed to rescue all the lock bits out of the door but wouldn't have the slightest clue how to fix it. I'm looking for about $3500ono at this stage which includes a Pioneer head deck and Fusion 10" sub tube Viewing is recommended and is on the North Shore Will post some more pictures this weekend if there is interest
  20. how much would it cost to service an e30? any rough estimates will be fine
  21. These check lights are on in an e30. Just wondering what they mean before I buy a car.
  22. FS: XYZ adjustable camber plates with Koni collar nuts. I purchased these for a suspension overhaul but didn't end up using them as my current mounts were in good condition and I didn't have the koni strut nut issue that other people have had. I paid $240 from speed factor, looking for $140. Pick up Wellington or can post at buyers expense. NB: Brand New
  23. FS: Walker 25024024 Oxygen Sensor for M20B25 Bought this from FCP Euro for my 325i E30 not knowing that it wasn't fitted with one from factory. Brand new, comes with a little tube of anti-seize. Pick up Wellington or can post at buyers expense. $50
  24. FS:6 x 0280150715 Bosch injectors. Car has done 112,000 KM's Not sure if they have been replaced before or not but were running fine in my m20b25 $50 pick up Wellington or can post at buyers expense.
  25. Mtech 1 steering wheel. Fine spline, bigger diameter version. Leather has some wear period correct patina. Stitching has separated above right spoke but the rest is fine. Overall in decent condition I would say. Look down upon other base model E28/E30 drivers with their peasant spec steering devices while you cruise along with your hands comforted by this ergonomically pleasant, motorsport inspired steering wheel. All for the measly sum of $100. A mere bargain, really. Pickup from Panmure.
