got some new feet for the e28 m535i today

Recommended Posts

just pick up a set of 6 sleightly used bridgestone RE55S 225/45-16: tyres to fit to my 16" by 8" bbs basket weaves on the e28 m535i .

and also got some 17"by8" throwing stars with 235/45 tyres to use as road wheels..

just had the whole rear end tightened up too , new solid beer can bushes and diff mount in the rear subframe and some adj ones in the swing arms . new stiffer sway bars ,stiffened up the bilstein shocks etc .

cant wait to try it all out . once i get the car back from being fixed (looks like the cluctch packed it in)

a broken finger on the pressure plate or a spring fallen out of the clutch disc.

some pics of the work done under the rear of the car . and a pic of the old SS exhaust system thats fitted to my car .

car handles pretty good now .

had a nice drive last sunday with the bmw car club , on a M-RUN .

had a chance to test out all the work done ,

stiffer sway bars ,

stiffened bilstein shocks,

replaced all the rear bushes with pretty solid red stuff .

replaced the old brake lines with the SS ones , (what a differnce in the pedal feel)

lightened flywheel weighed 10kg now 7.4Kg

engine revs up alot easier now ,

new M5 clutch plate , replaced some of the clutch bits like clutch fork (pretty worn after 508,000km) and a little plastic nipple that the clutch fork rests on at one end,

replaced some oil seals at the end of the engine and gearbox etc .

clutch feels nice and smooth now , no more shudders and has a nice progressive feel to the pedal .

Yep mate, this is all good but will it mean that you can now remove your smoke screen defence system you installed which was to stop you being overtaken by 318's and the like. I mean, one day you gotta look at the valve guides or something ay. Or onsell the motor to me cheap and I will review this feature you have been utilizing with low effectiveness for some time now. And fix the cigarette lighter. :D

thanks guys for the comments .

was thinking of doing the centre part of the wheels in black

can any one do a photoshop of it , to see what it would look like .

or i can just take the centre caps off all together so they just have the black spokes .

like these on the red car below

Guest Simon*

I don't know if the black would suit it - not on a silver car anyway Brent

But try without the covers as per Ian's E28 like you say and see how they go

I prefer them without the centre caps, black spokes, thats how I run mine on the rear.

Naked - FTW

The black wheels look better than I thought they would, but a little AMGish for my liking. I vote leave them silver.

Where did you get all the bushes and were they expensive (only expecting one answer to that question)?

The car looks awesome. I'm jealous!

thanks .

autoline (raceline) in mt wellington did the job for me .

they are just a mix of bushes from what ever they have ,then they modify them to fit etc .

the inside trailing arm ones are adjustable ,so you can adjust tow in etc .

the car corners realy well now .
