Oil on Sale thread

I used to get the plastic 20l for $160.

Can confirm the cardboard 20L is much better than the plastic option. Far easier to dispense with the included tap and obviously stores better. Probably much easier to drain once it near empty too.

How does the tap attach? I'm not sure what's in the box to be honest.

Plastic bladder inside box with a screw cap and tap, remove the cap and tap screws onto the cap thread. Once you have it setup on a table etc you just rotate the box 90 degrees towards you and becomes a mini oil dispensary.

Cheapest I have seen HPR5 for quite a while.

Maybe we should keep posting any half decent relevant oil prices here.

I also see Nulon has a new HPR5 equivalent.

Short-lived sale unfortunately. 😥

Bought some for a job on the 5th. Dont know how long it was on special before that.

Stocked up on 2x 20L boxes while i could. Rarely see them on special these days and everything has gone up in prices these last 2 years.

Sorry to hijack a bit but what are people's thoughts on HPR 5? Have always stuck to Castrol Edge 5w-30 but seen a few jump ship. Any reason to go for one over the other or just what's cheaper at the time?

I use HPR5 in all my own cars and most customers. I prefer the 40 viscosity and its usually cheaper especially 20L trade\special price. I also remember reading a technical thread on bobsoilguy about the base stock etc, the consensus was that is was decent.

Not bad.  Seen nothing past 40% for the last year or so for that.

40% off Penrite 5w40 HPR5

I picked up a bunch last Mothers Day weeked at this price from Supercheap.

Also something to make you laugh and a reason I buy pretty much nothing from Repco.

$90 for a filter......
Hengst filters are $35 from BNT.

Anything euro is marked up a fair bit for retail customers compared to Japanese etc. People buying parts at Repco arent typically the shop around type so they take advantage for that. 5 years ago a Gates idler pulley for an M54 was $180 retail and $90 trade.

Might be mistaken but wasn't the supercheap deal on 5L jugs? This might be a better deal ok 6L
