Wasn’t it listed for someone like $14000 ono in March on trademe?

Yeah, I think it was something like that - didn't sell especially fast at that price either.

Just seen a pair of fog lights advertised for $300, reduced from $400.

They must have the unobtainium reflectors and sapphire crystal lenses.

FL or PFL.  PFL ones are generic and could be picked up cheap a few years back.

PFL, I think. Square corners - same as the E24 (iirc).

Surely that kind of thing can be had on EBay cheap enough?!

The pfl ones are pretty tricky to get. You can get lenses new (or repro) relatively easy, but the housings etc are rare if your car never had them.

I would have happily (well...) paid 300 a couple of years ago when I was looking.

They are different between the pre-85 and later pfl e30s too, helpfully enough.

There's another on TM with an asking in the over $20k bracket.

Sad thing is that with them commanding such high (asking) prices, we're questioning whether we can justify hanging on to the Baur.

Wow OK.
It's a low spec 4 door 320i Jap import with an engine swap.
It looks great.  But it's not a desirable model.  That is what I would expect to pay for a mint M325i.

And I don't think I would ever trust an E30 speedo cluster.

$9k for a 318i sedan, replica wheels and cracked bumpers. It does have a clean pov spec interior though. But $9k!!

Yip that was mine. It was a really clean car underneath but jeez I didn't think it was worth what he's asking for it now. Needed a lot of paint work to bring it up to being a minter.

There are a truly tiny number of E30s worth the $12k+(++) prices being asked. Current asking prices are trading on hype.

Yes - prices are moving up, but not as much as the asking prices suggest.

In 10 years, do you think we'll look back at these as cheap?

Imported 20 years ago though. Be interesting to know what the flag was, but its probably been fixed since.
