Simca 49 Report post Posted August 3, 2019 Hey guys! Looking at buying an e34 wagon with an m50b25tu. Owner sent me a video of it with the ticking engine which seems to be the only problem. He says it's lifter tick but it seems pretty loud and to me sounds pretty close to when my mate's bluebird got the ole rodnock. turbolizard 38 Report post Posted August 4, 2019 This is very hard to tell from a video, but I don't think it sounds like lifters. Maybe a timing chain slapping around in the case due to dead tensioner. Need to listen to actual engine with stethoscope (or screwdriver up to the ear) to see where it is coming from.
