Uncerted 120i with a high km N54 in it for $22k anyone?

I’m sure it’s a weapon but not sure of the value proposition against a low km DCT E82 🤔

$22k was my planned starting  price for a TM auction if I decide to move my N54 powered 130i on after completing the maintenance (specs in Chris's google docs file).

Fully certified too.

Early days, will get updated and made less crude as it goes.

Put mine in. Could put the previous two in but I'll leave that to the owners.

Who can tell me what drives the Oil temp gauge in the 130i cluster(I have an N54 transplant if that makes a difference)

Was working fine prior to doing some gasket maintenance (and new water pump and thermostat) which involved removing and reconnecting a lot of plugs.

Cheers, John

Pretty sure it's oil temp not water and the sensor is the same one used for oil level in the sump

Thanks updated post, too much of a rush to engage brain and typing fingers

I have not gone near the sump gasket (yet), where is the sensor located, is there an image available somewhere?

Tks, John

$7,200 for PFL auto seems very sensible to me, looks like some of the interior trim is wrapped in matte carbon.

Price drop on this one already... $6,999 ONO which means you could probably walk away with it for $6,500, that's not bad buying if it's sound.

It'll be interesting to see what this goes for....

$5,255 with ~3 hours left.

Edit: and I see yours is for sale?

I wonder if the auction will have a few more bids in the last couple of hours. $5k is a steal!

Yep. I need to get rid of mine 😭

We're moving to a section that requires a 4wd. I've already bought a Subaru Outback 3.0R to get us up there.

I'm gutted about selling the 130i but it'll put a big dent in the solar power setup we want for off grid living 😅

I saw the twin of my car in the Petone Mitre 10 carpark yesterday. Looked great with the 135i alloys on it. Anyone from here? The owner saw me stopped next to it with my car as my gf looked at me like this 🙄

When this car was listed start of last year I took it for a PPI. Fair bit of work needed, still a good buy for 5k though.

Coolant light has come on a few times last week or so. Seems to be a fairly slow leak. What are the most common areas for a leak. Don't think it will be water pump as the car is only sitting at 64,000kms. Thanks in advance. I should add, I can't see any signs of a leak from the engine bay and no signs of a leak from underneath.

Top it up and monitor it. Could just have been a bit low.

Waterpumps fail at anywhere between 10,000 and 300,000km, they'll throw a check engine light though. Is it throwing a code?

Really shitty plastic connectors where the hoses connect to the head.
One of mine snapped off totally after some work at BMW - Perfect place to rest your hand, shitty crumbly plastic.

2nd hose connector had split and was just about to pop off when we caught it.

This one.  Replaces the sh*t plastic connector that WILL fail at some stage.

And this one.  Which fails where the hose connects to the "quick" connector.

No check engine code, just low coolant light on the dash.
