I remember seeing the 1 series in Motor magazine at launch, thought it was fugly.

Exactly my experience, the shape has grown on me.

Lord help the resale values of the F40, even a mother couldn't love that thing.

Heaps of wrecks and front halves on Trademe, was looking this morning. Only catch is they may want you buy the whole seats. I suppose something with the seat airbags triggered, which would make the seats trash, would be the best candidate.

If I see anything I'll let you know. Do base models from Japan come with heated seats, do you know?

Surprisingly the lamppost impression one @BM WORLD has, has intact seats.

Tidy late model auto for $7500, how much would a manual conversion be on one of these?

I think $5000 was thrown around last time I asked about it, I presume that's mostly parts costs.

Edit: if that was any other colour I'd be making offers to do the exact same thing lol

Where are you good people sourcing your E87 parts from? Nil support from FCP and they don't intend to support non US market cars according to their email.

From the loving new owner of a dirty 120d.

Bunch of parts are common between US 128/328/330 and 130s, not really too much of an issue other than LHD/RHD. I dont think they got many diesels in the US though, so will be harder.

As Chris rightly says there's a lot of crossover with other vehicles and I've had E87 success as a result with FCP. I still check in with Schmiedmann from time to time but their shipping costs and timeframes are less attractive than they used to be. I also do a "site:com.au" search for common parts, if you can find a supplier over there willing to ship to NZ (many are) then they're often cheaper than getting stuff here because they don't automatically mark up 100%.

Realoem to get the specific part number of what you're after.

Put part number into fcp euro.

Order part

Yup I just have my FCP car listed as a 2008 128i.  Everything is the same bar the air filter.

As for the D.  Europe is your best option.  I would go for the UK.  So many 1 series D's.

Unfortunately/fortunately the body is straight and well serviced. Mostly after engine parts. I'll start a thread so I don't clog this one. Thanks for your help though everyone!

That bumper damage is the only thing triggering me. Can't complain though at that price.

Q&A made me chuckle...

Q: Does this have reversing camera and Bluetooth, thanks.

A: Has mirrors and an AUX input

Made me chuckle too, I'm pretty sure I got the very first of the E87 android headunits in my car. Manufacturer wanted to send me a reversing camera add on for free if I made a video about it, reply was its a hatchback and my man card would be put in jeopardy.

No more than good reproductions I'd say, I paid US$36 for mine.

Edit: Gloss/matte might make a difference, I wouldn't want gloss ones.

Yeah true, race to the bottom these days very few people seem to want to pay for quality or service. If that’s all their worth then I’ll put them in the wife’s mighty 116d for shits and gigs.

FWIW looks like gloss round the outside and the vertical slats are satin.
