What's this plug for?

Recommended Posts

I've got this loose in the engine bay of a 2003 e39 540i. Anyone know what it's for? I can't find anything to plug it in to.

Still haven't figured this out. I assume it's an option I don't have but it seems very ungerman to leave a connector loose in the engine bay...

Bonnet switch for alarm which goes on cabin air filter box.   Switch probably thrown away by previous owner as they fail resulting in annoying alarm activations.

New switches are somewhat expensive USD40 from FCP for what they are, but the asian continent has cheapies if you want to risk it...

Thanks Fellas. I think I can live without it. As far as I'm concerned, if someone has forced my bonnet open then they're already committed to whatever they intend to do!
