E30 Alpina B3

Recommended Posts

Absolute gem. I left my number on this car several times 5-6 years ago, I can now see why they didn't call back!

I'm guessing via the plate history that the B3 2.7 conversion was done at Team McMillan? OS3623 matches the batch of "M325i" cars that came in during 1990,  then the plate swap to "ALP1NA" in 1991 makes some sense. Team Mac did three(+) AC Schnitzer cars at the same time, all of which had the 2.7 conversion, but they were on PTxxxx plates.

If I hadn't added a car only this week, I'd buy the E30 tomorrow.

leichtbau you do not need another 2.7

@Secniv this is your specialist subject matter right?

Well I’ve read and researched a lot about them while building my replica. Does that make me a specialist idk, enthusiastic yes.

It’s an interesting arrangement. Ex-factory B3’s used Alpina parts of course (spoilers, wheels, their mod engines, seat coverings etc).  Sytner (UK) did conversions and I believe you could order any base vehicle and add the Alpina parts you and your budget wanted. So there is precedence.

However my benchmark would be in order to call it an Alpina B3 2.7 It would have the factory build plate and be on the factory registry. It appears to have non of these. An OE engine transplant and a few Alpina parts a B3 does not make imho.

Having said all that it looks like a lovely car despite the high mileage but $59k wow!

Cool, but I'd rather have someone make my own spec e30 for $60k

I fail to see how this is worth more than the sum of its parts? A handful of alpina bolt ons, custom exhaust and an engine rebuild...?
Where’s the alpina steering wheel and interior, body kit, other fruit and of course one of their signature colours and pin striping?

Its damn cool, and beautiful E30... but yeh that price is silly considering its not "genuine".

Fabulous car, but yeah, I imagine you could build quite a special E30 for $60K - S54 etc etc.

It wouldn't be an Alpina, but neither is this.

Love it though and good on him, hope he gets what he's after.

You know what's cooler than one Alpina? Two Alpina's.
