2003 BMW 540i 6sp manual

That's what i thought initially but Getrag 260, random clutch components, lock diff and having to undo who knows what. Probably better off buying a tidy msport and doing a decent 5 speed conversion yourself.

I agree. Although I'd rather do a 530 and supercvharge it if I wanted more go.

I think that one is priced more correctly than the other (as nice as it is).

Seems like it's priced accordingly if you compare it to the E39 M5 up on tm for 40k.

But the 40k price tag on the M5 is a.k.a my wife wants me to sell it asking price... ?

Makes me wonder what mine is worth being NZ new and originally a 6 speed manual.

But why did it need a new engine at those km's? Lack of use maybe?

@Kiwi_BMW it's a Jap import - km =/ engine hours!

that means it spent a lot of time idling in traffic as I would expect a M62Tu to do more than 70,000km

Probably took some cooking lessons whilst in the said traffic

$80k spent apparently (would have to ask how/why on earth) but no receipts (?) and 4 year service gap so who knows ...

This sounds familiar. Pretty sure this was discussed years ago, or at least another 540i where the owner had ordered a brand new replacement engine from Germany.

Its the age old thing of just because thats what you spent on it, doesnt mean its worth that much.

Its a very nice car, and awesome in manual, but not 30k awesome. I'd also want proof the engine and box were "brand new" not second hand as that changes things.

Or 'just because that's what the previous owner spent on it' ?
