Bottlecaps and steelie spare

Recommended Posts

Hi experts, I have the original 5 wheels that came with my 325i (it has 5 x 15” basketweaves on now).

They are all in good original unrefurbished condition; tyres on the bottlecaps are GT Radial Champiros with even wear across each tyre, but range from 2-3mm to 4-5mm between tyres.

They are taking up space, worth anything?

I could pay ( 😕 ) to have the tyres removed and keep the wheels or sell the lot?

In my experience there is not a huge demand for the 14” bottle caps. I bought a set of five with almost new tyres on them for $120 and sold them a couple of years later for the same price.

Might be worth a little more now, with E30 prices rocketing you never know.. I would put your set of five in the $100-$150 price bracket.

14" bottle caps are not expensive.

14" weaves ae a different story and appear to be following 15" weaves on an upward path.

Thank you Jon, that is really helpful and appreciated.

I’ve “sold” the tyres for $1 on TradeMe just now and the buyer is going to remove them off the wheels and return those to me.

Saves space but as you say it sounds as though the wheels themselves are of perhaps only ornamental value at this point in time.

Thank you Graham that’s also very helpful.

Out of interest what do the weaves go for?

Hi Thomas @swapsndeals thank you ;)

I have had the tyres removed and cleaned the wheels up, sitting in the garage for now given they’re practically worthless ha
