Hard to sell F10 M5?

Recommended Posts

I noticed this F10 M5 has popped up again on TM after sitting with a Tauranga dealer for most of 2021.

Don't remember what price it was listed at originally but it spent some time in the mid 40's, then was last listed at 40k as recently as a month ago. Makes you wonder how the new South Island dealer thinks they can now attract a 10k premium.

From what I can tell this is an ex-BMW NZ press vehicle - I found various online reviews from local journo's back in 2012 on this same vehicle (when on plate BMWNZ5), also looks like it was no stranger to Hampton Downs at one point to.

At 40k with 135km I think it may be worth a look, depending on maintenance records. But 50k though? No thanks. One thing I noticed from the Tauranga dealer's pics is the front and rear tyres aren't matching, makes you wonder what other cost saving has occurred. The build date indicates this vehicle is an early production car to, which isn't ideal.

Regardless, I love the look of this car, but those steering wheels on the pre-LCI models are hideous!

Don't know about the car, but had a positive buying experience buying from that seller (Eyrewell Forest Motor Company). Got my 760Li off him.

I watched one sell for around 40k a month or so back. White one that was well specd with 30k less kms than the one posted. It also sat for sale for quite a while.

I bought my M5 from Southern Specialist Cars, and they are motivated to sell - and move on price and stand behind what they sell. They paid a fair amount to sort out post sale issues and I would be happy to recommend them. They have this - much newer build and far less milage. Price is not far from the asking price on the one you are interested in.

^^   Have been avoiding going to look at that M5 in case I drove away in it.  I think if it was a LCI I may already own it.

Agree about Southern Car Specialist, bought my M50d a few years back from them, well priced and a good team there in my experience.

Hmmm that's not my experience with Southern Specialist Cars. Visited twice in the past two or three years and would not recommend the experience. 😡

Its a bit hard to get a handle on their business model when they are expecting  50% margins on now slower  moving stock items. Probably why some of the cars are now sale proof perhaps.

Ive had my f10 M5 listed for a while with not much interest, $44k and its been tuned so best bang for buck on tm I reckon. Granted my pictures have been poor but I feel like people are holding on to their pennies at the moment.

Nice looking car Tye, they do look sharp in silver.  Must be an animal with the tune!

Given Kiwi's attitudes to odo readings over conditions, the kms and a tune may deter a lot of people?

Yeah it would be a niche resale market wouldnt it. But realistically I could go back to factory and it would still probably just sit on trademe.

Shes an absolute weapon stage 1, stage 2 would be pointless IMO. Gave a st hitec tuned GTR a shock last week when all he got was my tail lights 😂

The f10 m5 seems like crazy good value these days in the 40-50k range, I've been keeping an eye on them hoping one comes for sale with the B&o sound system option but I imagine that is rare in New Zealand?

Anyone priced up a mechanical warranty on an M5 lately?   Imagine most of the early ones would be in the final years of being eligible for the likes of Autosure?

Import ex-Singapore probably your best bet for that. Not many people here or in UK paying 3K GBP / 7k NZ for an optional sound system

Age isn't usually a problem.

Expect $4k for 2 year warranty.
