Ha ha, some of you people picked up that it was a fake (sorry to all the Police who thought they had something here). Yes if you check out the "Speeding car" photo you will see some mistakes that I left in. the 100kph is missing and the RPM needle has sunshine on it whilst it is in the shadows. well done. I have posted the orgional to show you what 1/2 an hour on a Mac with photoshop can do.

P.S Actually I created it to prove to a Police friend that any photo can be changed to suit any thing you want. He freaked out when I showed him the " Speeding Car" photo and proceeded to get his ticket book out and book me. When I showed him the orgional he could not believe I was able to change the image as much as I did.

This came about when it has been reported that the NZ Government is looking at automatic digital speed cameras!, yes believe it! It works like this:

The camera is connected to the main internet via wireless, when it clicks you traveling over the speed limit the photo is then sent to a mainframe then is date stamped which is then sent to an automatic number plate reader. A ticket is issued for the amount your car was caught at. In other words, by the time you get home the ticket is already in the post to you!

Nice?

The government feels that they have too many police officers "Tax" collecting on the roads when it would be more fum to automate the entire system.

Foot note: More people died this summer (2003-2004) in the mountains in climbing accidents than on the NZ roads, so where are th mountain police?, can't get "TAX" from climbers? for speeding can we?

haha nice.....what you driving anyway?

Can't you tell?, BMW gutless wonder, Yes it's a 318.... ya jump on the accelerator get a book out, read the first chapter and bingo!, you can let the clutch out and start moving. I wish people wouldn't try and tell me that a small 1.8L engine can move a car that almost weights over 1.5 tons at any decent speed or acceleration.

The only thing worse that a 318 is a 316!! arrghhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Message to BMW: If ya gonna go the effort to make a nice car please include a decent sized engine!

in saying that though, the 318i does serve a purpose and is good at it.

It is just not a high performance sports machine, it is a good economical 4 cylinder car.

BMW do have bigger and much better engines, but still have to produce the smaller ones to serve this part of the market.

For example, my parents have an E36 318i, and it is perfect for them.

Cheers

Don't be stupid of course it an Auto!! (BMW has to make it an even slower car).

End Note: I wonder how slow a BMW (E36) 316 Auto is?

2nd End Note: I once was the proud owner of a 1.6L MK3 cortina which was damm slow (manual tho), my best friend had a the same car with the high compression 1.3L engine! and this thing struggled to get ip most hills in Dunedin in first gear!.

I was informed the other day by a recent English friend that he also owned a great MK 3 cortina in the UK, but he had the max power of a 1.1L motor (same as an escort) Arrghhhh..... only the poms could make something bad even worse!!

the cameras will still be better than that one newspaper tghing i read..

Apparently you can fit every car with a chip, and if it drives past 'sepcial' road markers, it can tell if youre speeding or not, and then it sends the ticket.

How gay would that be.

Mate, you wonder how good the fuel consumption really is if you have to jump on the accelerator every time you wanted to go anywhere.

Example: I once also owned a VC Holden Commodore (with the 1.9 misfire motor). This thing used a lot of fuel due to the weight of the car and having to jump hard on the accelerator every time ya wanted the damm thing to move. I transplanted a 2850cc torana motor into it and improved the fuel consumption by heaps!! Not to mention the extra power and nice sound it made.

The only downfall was when you did hold it at high engine speed the fuel consumption did go the other way quite a bit. But around the town at normal speeds to was a better car!

BTW: Please don’t tell me how fast your BMW 1.8L are cause they are not, end of story!

I have however included a photo I found on the web of a guy who's added a supercharger (and other mods) to his 318i. this car produces over 300HP!!

go figure.

yeah.....same as the 325 is more economical than the 320...mainly because you dont have to floor it EVERYWHERE to get any thrills....the e30 318 m10 engine responds well to forced induction......used for F1 back in the day...gay how its an auto...haha....ah well one day it might grow up and be a manuaL! the conversion isnt as expensive as you might think either....def worth doing...would make it a fun little car...

Hey! I'd be confident of taking auto 320s off the line, dunno how long I'd stay in front though, maybe to 60 kays?. A guy at school has an auto E36 318ti which I wouldn't mind pulling up next to him at a stop light to see what happens.

Mine is manual though so it is not too bad, but the hills of Wellington makes it go through gas qute a lot.

I'd take you off the line in mine - I think a few people on here can vouch it would win ^_^
