  1. On that subject, whats the difference between the M50 and M52 and oil filler is where for which
  2. I was under the understanding my 1992 325i was Vanos but some people on TM say that they didn't come out until 1993-1994. How can you tell by looking at the engine ??
  3. Hi there, My local mechanic believes my airflow meter could be faulty, he cannot test it. Does anyone know anywhere in Hutt Valley Wellington area that it can be tested, and if faulty ,where to purchase secondhand one. I have been quoted $300 for an untested one with no gaurantee--ouch
  4. Thanks, I my my sparky understands
  5. Hi all, I am going to be fitting a towbar to my 1992 325i E36 and was wondering about the electrical side of things. I have heard you have to have a relay box fitted which apparently are quite expensive. Does anyone know another way or where I can get this done in the Wellington-Hutt Valley area.
  6. Thanks guys, I will look at these options and hopefully be up and running. Whats involved with cleaning injectors. I would imagine getting to them and getting them out will be the most difficult part ?
  7. My car seemed to start spluttering as if running out of fuel. It got better for a couple of days then gradually got worse until it ran roughly all the time. But (would you believe it) when I was taking it to my mechanic it ran like a dream so he couldn't work out went wrong. My fuel consumption improved by about 100kms per tank full. Everything sweet. Until now when it stopped completely. It will start easily but it seems like not enough petrol is getting through to run it. I replaced fuel filter and fuel pump in the hope I didn't have to get it towed(by a tow truck$$$$) to mechanic and pay through the nose to get it fixed. But damn, the gamble didn't pay off. Has this happened to anyone else ???
  8. I get my usage by dividing kms driven by litres put in at every fill (the only way to accurately work out usage per km). My usage gauge reads kms per litre. I love driving car so the price you pay for enjoyment. Thanks for replies
  9. Car goes great until it reaches a certain temperature and then it just dies and will not start until engine cools down. Engine runs fine, no coughing, spluttering etc, it just cuts out. Must be electric of some sort ???
  10. I have a workmate who has a 525 and dosen't use his car because it stops running when engine warms up. Any ideas ???
  11. Thanks guys, it seems like usage is fairly normal for an Automatic. I don't do many long trips, only to and from work Upper Hutt to Seaview. It just seemed to be a bit too much. Cheers
  12. I am a new BMW owner and I love it, but I am only getting 6-7 kms per litre out of car. The thermostat was broken so that was fixed(slight improvement on usage). I drive the car as economical as possible but cannot get any more than 6.8 kms litre. Forgive my ignorance on some of my questions. It is not leaking fuel IE: no smell,no visual sign. It appears I am losing it while car is sitting or just at idling speed. is the km/litre gauge fairly accurate ?, when at idle should the gauge be off screen(no kms per litre)? I drive it as careful as possible to get better usage, the gauge reads 11-13 kms litre on open road. I have had car serviced etc by BMW mechanic, he can't work out why consumption is so high. Car performs really well , so I am stumped. Does anybody have any answers ???? Cheers Wayne
