Hi all, just wanting to know if my bmw has pulled a biggie on me. Today I'm driving along and out of nowhere I hear loud noise come from the engine, I look in my rear view mirror and see all this smoke. I pull over and open my bonnet and see snapped belt all intwigned around my alternator, fan etc. Not sure if it was wise but I very cautiously limped home with about 2 kms to go. My battery started to drain and the light came on (alternator busted), I had no power steering, and also my car started to overheat. Is this going to be a major to get fixed?

I installed a carbon simota pod on my 320i. After a coupla minutes driving with it, I went back to my standard intake. All I found it did was give a deep moaning sound with not much go to suit, n also it prompted me to give it sh*t n waste my fuel so i could hear it roar hah. This was on a 320i though so might be better on a 323i+...

I stumbled upon this latch thingy on my rear bumper on my e36 last night and popped it open... I've never noticed it before and can't think of what it could be. Anyone know what is it?

Reminds me of what happened to us.. On easter sunday, my car had totally immobilised itself while we were tenting in Whangamata. The night before we had a power cut so we chucked on the sounds in my car and come the morning when we went to leave, dead battery (got a bit carried away with the music the night before). So anyway after using a friend of a friend of a friends jumper leads we got the battery working, but now the car wouldn't recognise the alarm remotes immoboliser. With all our gear loaded in the BMW at Whangamata i thought... o sh*t. So anyway, we tried searching under the dash by the steering wheel trying to find an immoboliser button but to no avail. After bout 30 minutes I saw the alarm sticker on my window with a mobile number on it. The sticker being about a year old and being easter sunday I thought I'd be joking myself to get ahold of someone who could help. I rang up and the dude helped me for about 10 minutes walking me through how to unimmobolise the car after having a flat battery using the flashing alarm L.E.D and ignition. Was a long process and eventually it ticked over. Saved our asses, I couldn't thank him enough!! So yeh, Hamilton people, go to Mobile Car Alarms on Te Rapa Straight. Good dudes

Mmm ya I agree with everyones comments. Maybe I should delete my comment giving advice. If you've been driving for only 1 year n nearly lost all your demerits, thats gotta say something about your driving, and respect of the authorita..

Get either a... Bel RX65, Escort 8500, or Valentine One. Be prepared to pay at least $450 off trademe. Don't waste ya money on the cheap ones. I have a Bel RX65 n never had trouble from the police after 5 years driving. I don't speed around like a maniac or anything at all, its just useful for your long trips when maybe you're creeping up over 100... or entering a 50km zone from the highway.

mm yeh I think I'd go with a 325i standard twin tip exhaust or something similiar... I heard removing the cat converter and replacing it with a coby can give it a nice deep sound... need to investigate

Cheers for ur comments, they're 18" Koya Octanes, got them for a good price at capital tyres
