  1. For the amount of trouble you would have to go through you would be better off finding an crashed car with the a 2.8 engine in it and swapping it in with its ECU. I am pretty sure that you would need to change injecters as well so basically you are taking 50% of the bits out of an engine you may aswell take the enigine its self. Where as I am looking to do the M20b25 as a targa car project.

  2. Hi, im a bit of a noob when it come to this sort of thing. Is this a kit that uprades the stroke of the engine? If it is i would be keen on some info as well. How hard would it be to stroke my engine up to a 2.8. I have the M52 engine, same as the 328i, but mine is only a 2.5l. Thanks

SO you currently have the M52B25? If so I am pretty sure that if you got the crank out of an M52B28 and swapped it in then you should be right.

  3. I have been looking at options other than turboing and and a 2.7 builds I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with stroker kits that are available for the 2.5 m20 engines. I have baeen having a look at 2.9, 3 and 3.1 kits that are available from Ireland engineering over in the states and I was wondering if there are similar kits (read price wise) available here in NZ

  4. If anything it acts as a barrier for the air getting in, if you want a freer breathing car you add a pod, where as this thing actually cuts down the amount of air that can get through and creates drag. I fail to see how, by any streatch of the imagination that this thing will do anything but decrease power.

  5. I got a 3 tonne jack and a couple of stands from supercheap about 6 months ago and they are still going strong, the jack cost me about $250 if I remember correctly and the stands about $50 for the pair. The jacks and stands have to meet the NZ/AUS standards to be sold here in NZ so quality can't be an issue although they are still DIY jacks and must be treated as such.

  6. I have just finished off putting my car back together and it is ready to go into be certed as it has been de-registered. It was first registered here in NZ in 1996 so it will need a full going over, does anyone know the cheapest place to get this done here in Christchurch or if anyone here on bimmersport does them and could give me a decent price so far I have had a quote or $350 (at on road) is that about right or is there somewhere cheaper?

  7. FWIW i dont think a K&N will match the BMW filter for keep the crap OUT of your engine.

I am of the same opinion as are both of the mechanics I have spoken to about this. K&N filters tend to let a larger amount of fine grit through and this is not a big problem for short term running (racing/drags/drifting/fanbois) where engine rebuiuds are fairly common as it doesn't have time wear bearings etc, but if you wanna get 300,000+ km out of it stick with the factory standard filter, they sell them with that filter because thats the one they know will work best at filtering and and will give good airflow.

  8. The 3 belts on my 320i m20 need changing and I was just wondering whether it is necesary to have the aircon hooked up? It is de-gased, my current car has it and I never use it and I don't think I will need it on this car and don't plan to re-gas it anyway. Does it make any difference if I just don't put a belt on there, basically I want to know if it will do any harm. I will leave it all the so that if some buys it and wants to use it at some later date they can.
