Well I aint been here for a while. How is everyone. Well I have had some changes with work and maybe leaving these shores for a while. Which means I may put me pride and joy up for sale. I havent had time to work on it much in the last 12 months, been to busy. Here is a list of whats been done so far. Here is the run down on the car. Complete rebuild of engine, including: New set of bearings all round and rings. Balanced crank, and polished. Bead Blasted pistons. Head was planed, Ported a little, (just cleaned up) 3 face valve cut (flows better) Block was decked. (machined) Oil pump all measured up and checked (etc, did price a new pump, but mine was mint so left.) Cam was sent into FCS, measured and tidy up into spec. (I have yet to see anyone make big gains from putting in big cams, I dont see the point, plus its a nice daily driver) New head bolts, gaskets etc. All new seals all round,. New waterpump. New thermostate. New cam belt and tensioner. Injectors were sent away and cleaned and flowed. Radiator flushed, new hoses. (There are numerous new parts in the engine bay cant remember them all lolol) New clutch master cylinder. Complete new clutch. Flywheel machined. Aircon removed. New tie Rod ends. New Front discs (brembo) New brake pads (metal Kings, bastard of a thing to bed in) King springs fitted, with Koni yellows all round (adjustable) 16in rims. The car was complelely stripped checked for rust etc. The body is tidy but not Concorse material. The engine management has been chipped. If I was keeping it, I was going to have the whole car stripped and repainted. So whats it worth. .Its done about 5000-8000km since I did all this.

Ok, this should be done correctly if its not you will make a major mess of it. (yes that the obvious) I advice you purchase a helicoil kit if your going to do this yourself, this will come with the correct tap that you require to tap this to. From memory the tap themselves are a little different in sizing from conventional taps, as they are cutting the thread for the outer edge of the helicoil to screw into. They will also instruct you to the size you need to drill the hole, THIS must be done correctly if to large the helicoil will not hold. This is a easy thing to do, it is also a easy thing to screw up. Goodluck.

You have that check light flash when you first start the car, that norm. On the little screen up by rear view mirror, there is a led for BRAKE LIGHTS (lights not pads.) Thats the one Im talkin about. Yes it does come on when you first start the car, but as soon as you touch the pedal it goes off. Mine comes back on sometimes after a while?

Are we all having brake problemas at the moment. Mine isnt really a problem, after a while of driving the car that little LED light comes on warning reagrding BRAKE LIGHTS. The thing is the brake lights are still going perfectly fine. So is it that switch at the brakes or just a bad connection somewhere. Anyone else had this?

I may well be wrong but I believe the frontal impact rule does apply. Basically you cannot import a E30 fullstop. They clearly do not meet the regulation. I looked into this as I did look at a vehicle that had been imported, but was not certified. As the vehicle had been imported before the regulation came in I would of been allowed to get the vehicle certified. BUT trust me on this there is ALOT of red tape to do this. You must have all the required documents. If not you are screwed. I flagged it as the history of the vehicle I looked at was to dodgy. (It was a shame as it was a M325 with all the trimings.)

Excellent dude, I just purchased today the 3 step bottles of Meguiers. I will follow your proccess closely, one question with the 3 step process, do I use the first step on all the car or just parts that need cleaning.

Ok, I have a pre 88 model. So that would mean Im after the one in this pic (below circled in red, I already have the other one.) Can I get that from the dealer, anyone know how much? Thanks in advance, Im happy to pay 350-400.

Will that fit on a preface lift model?

LOL gmc are you reading the same book as me, lolol.

FCS and Kelford are able to build your cam lobes up and then grind them back into stock, discuss running a different profile cam with them. But in my opinion it is a waste of time unless you match it with other work on the engine. you will require replacing the eccentrics. (If worn, comon problem on the M20 if not replaced when worn you will never be able to get the tappets to set correctly.)) The valve stems may require machining or replaced, the rockers and rocker shafts should be inspected. The list can go on. Depending on how far you want to go.

Fix the problem, DONOT mess around with fuel pumps and fuel tanks. VERY unwise.

Yes it can be tested. (to a degree) have you got a Bentley manual its in there. If not yell out. Was the icv new or from a wreckers? Check for any airleaks in the intake system. It can be linked to a few different causes, but my guess would be either a air leak or icv. I believe on the 325i it is controlled by the engine management. which monitors the coolant temp sensor and adjusts the injection cycle depending on that. If its only inially on start for a few seconds and not all time, I dont know if I would worry to much about it. Runs some fuel injector cleaner thre it check the above thing s and dont worry unless it gets worse.
