    ABS???

more fun - find a paddock and let rip - its bloody amazing
  3. the lsd in threeta mates it sliiiiddddeeeeeee big time - but only when the back tyres are stuffed. the 316 /318 with new tryes can't even break traction in the wet let alone the dry - and the wheels go different directions when they're both jacked up. not in threeta!!! its cool in the snow if one wheel is buried and you cn't be arsed digging out - put one chain on and out she comes :bounce:
  4. or.... the lower ball joints - but wof check will pick these up. see chris at Centreline in new north road - he fixed my car
  5. from front will be tie rod ends from the end of the steering rack - does the knock go away under light braking?? then probably trailling arm bush (under drivers feet) or sway bar bushes - i've replaced all these on threeta - nearly quiet now!!
  6. and behind the fuel filler pipe that goes across the right hand rear wheel arch. and at the from of the rear wheel arches (rear of the sills, and ..... bloody rust never sleeps!! my car's from northern ireland where there's so much salt on the roads in winter the car turns white!!! the roads never dry and get really slick (great for rwd bimmers!!)

    Darwin Awards 2004

check the tyres on the truck - if the "jack" doesn't kill him - the blowout probably will
  8. yeehaaa - it'd be an even bigger bummer if you pulled the engine to bits to not find anything seriously broken, and then spent heaps on new bits, as you had it apart, and put it all back together - to find the dizzy is out!! lol :banghead: if you want to see my threeta you're still welcome gus
  9. try compression test - is your oil over full?? has this happened suddenly or has it been burning oil for awhile??? is it really oil on the plugs or are they all wet (petrol) from running over rich?? bit of a bummer
  10. how hard is it to swap roof??? is the 325 one ok???
  11. i'll keep using the fully synthetic oil then and keep changing it!!! seems to have worked so far. Now that i get to drive it for a bit longer!!! any one out there have a drivers door lock?? Sorry if off topic

    ABS retro fit

the two prangs i've had - 2nd one in threeta would have heaps worse if not for the abs - i had the brakes on so hard it bent something under the dash. anyway the 1st prang was in a fiat 128 and i slid on into the car in front with no hope of cadence - i was crapping myself so much!! eh megs - you were in the threeta at the time (she's 12 now and reading this :thumb:

    ABS retro fit

my 88 325 has abs - works fine. it fires up each time you start the car and move off - gives a little wirl wich stops it freezeing up i guess. I smacked the back of a newish madaz 626 a while ago, after looking at a speed camera, and had all the kids hanging out of there seat belts, in the dry, hit the 626 with the front of the bonnet, as the brakes were really hauling arse. so then me and jock (m5 dude) tried a little brake contest between me and his newish primera - the threeta won hands down every stop - jocko kept on locking his fronts and by the time he'd lifted off and reapplyed i was stopped. Cool stuff the abs in an emergency. but its crap in a race - it gets confused as hell when braking for corners and small bumps and stuff upset it. the other point is swapping from an abs car to non-abs - in the abs car you have to stamp on the brakes hard to activate the abs and let it do the stopping - trying to stop the lock up (cadence brakeing) with abs stuffs up badly. sorry to waffle on - cool topic article on cadence
  14. thanks grant - decided to keep it. So no longer for sale wife put the foot down on the replacement car (a '96 Ford Transit) - she wanted the bimmer sold first !! (bloody hell - it's hard work init) so i get to keep it and will no doubt see some of you lot sooner or latter. dunc
  15. price now 4500 - 021 665 852 anyone want more photos? Am i asking too much???
  16. go kane it and tell what's like!!!
  17. 88 e30 325 108000 miles same clutch/shocks/gearbox selector bushings :-) 94 e36 316/8 (sa) 126000
  18. why don't you buy my car (e30 325 lsd 5 speed, 4 door), swap diff and sell it again!!! Diff is quiet, car is fast. And it goes SIDEWAYS.
  19. i don't want to be a bore - but is the car fair any good for selling these cars???
  20. all rubber - tryied the nolathane thingies in the front trailing arms - but they crashed and bashed. they're fine in wifees e36 - do feel good. the new rubber made it like new again. (i have had it 10 years so sort of remember what it was like with only 70k on the clock :-) ) Some dude from chch rang about the threeta (325) he says they all chew out cams at 150 - 200 ks - this right = mine looks fine - all lobes are smooth no grooves. what's the deal?? Price for a new head 2000? this sound right?
  21. gus - rather not swap the diff, as, if this auction doesn't get a move on i'll keep it and then how would i get to go sideways :-) the wheels are boring old bbs 14 inch that came with the car. just ripe for some young dude to replace with those shiny steal me thingees they love. best thing i did with this car is spend 1100 on suspension mounts - two large subframe mounts at rear, and numerous stuff at the front. it handles like a cat now, rides well and even on 196 60 r 14 rubber (falken) sticks llike glue. thanks for the interest though. Duncan
  22. i have one - will have it after queen birthday - ring me on 575 3339 or 021 665852. anyone know how much i should charge you? (i'm not too greedy)

    e30 wanted

    my e30 325 5 speed for sale - 4 door sorry - 021 665 852, 575 3339. Duncan not all that mint but really shifts. looking about 5000
  24. lsd lets slide dangerously. its ok with good tyres, but lethal if they're bald. its only about 25% and needs lsd oil. no chance of spinning inside rear wheel though - so does the trick.
