  1. How does one get into something like this? I'm not particularly interested in the photography side of things, just general exploring. I regularly browse 28dayslater.co.uk while I'm working to kill time and it just fascinates me! Obviously we aren't blessed with the extensive history and old abandoned buildings as much as Europe but I'd love to meet like minded people and see what our country DOES have to offer in way of urbexing locations.

  2. Have this strange habit of taking a long way which turns into driving down a road ive never been down before into the whops and see where it takes me. Lots of coast to coasts for me :) I leave the windows down and drive sprited but not stupid. Especially when it early morning.

I think I've driven on almost every road in Wellington for this exact reason! Also, I agree on the no music for spirited driving.. Just the sound of the engine and wind rushing through the sunroof is enough for me. Coastal roads definitely make for the most fun.

Takes a bit of a toll on the fuel bill though with taking the long way home from work everyday.

  3. Wow, that car is awesome, have not seen one in many years, my aunt had one on Black and Green, could never find an image of it in a thousand Googles.

Check out this compelling advertisment for them, I think I want one.

My work computer doesn't have sound so I'll check the video out when I get home tonight. But yeah, it was a very cool car indeed. I wish I had kept it now. It always got comments/looks when I would be driving around (#1 feature for a 15yo boy amirite?)

Here's an actual picture of my old one. This is after I had already sold it and it had been f**ked, the day pick-a-part came and picked it up. It's the only pic I have. Chrome spray painted hubcaps, wipers and exhaust tip (not joking) were certainly not done by me, thankfully. The body was in a lot better nick when I owned it.

I actually went to visit it at pick-a-part a few days later and the entire body kit, front and rear lights, grill and boot spoiler were all pillaged. So there must be a converted Sentra out there somewhere.

  4. Wow, some of you guys were incredibly lucky with your first cars!

Here's mine: 1986(?) Nissan Villa Liberta

I had never seen one before and still have never seen one since. It's essentially a Nissan Sentra of the same year with a different kit. I bought it for $400 and sold it for $800. It was the most reliable car I have ever owned, the only thing I ever had to buy for it was a wheel bearing. Then it was sold to a dumbass 15yo girl who managed to f**k it within a month.. Snapped cambelt.. She replaced the head I think but it never ran right since and ultimately was laid to rest at pick-a-part :(

First car I ever bought/drove/worked on/sold. Obviously these aren't pictures of my one but I think I have one floating around here somewhere, I'll upload if anyone is interested.

  5. yes, in fact i have some black ones spare here you can have. unfortunately i dont have a car in wellington so i cant drop them round to you, but give me a text and you can pick them up, i live about 2 minutes from you if that. 0273079322

Cheers mate! I've saved your number so you can take it down now if you'd like. I probably wont be able to come around until later this week, fully swamped at work at the moment.

  6. I'm keen.

These plates are actually illegal right? You guys had any problems wearing them on the road?

I've haven't got a ticket yet.. But I did get pulled up last week and the cop noticed the font was slightly different than the NZ Govt issue ones. He was pretty cool about it though, I keep my originals in the car so if I ever do run into trouble I have the option of swapping the plates on the side of the road if asked to by Mr Plod.

  7. Hi guys,

The fabric is really starting to look tatty on the door cards on my Mspec E36. I'm thinking about removing the old fabric and replacing it with something new - maybe even leather?

Has anyone done anything similar or knows of any good guides on doing so? I've done a bit of research on google, but looks like most people weren't too successful....

I'm not keen on paying someone to do it, as the car really isn't worth much, and I don't wanna put $500 fixing something that doesn't affect its performance.

Keen to hear about your experiences whether you've done a good job or not!

    Cheers,

    Andrew

I knew I had seen a DIY for this somewhere..

I suppose it doesn't matter what you cover it in, the concept is still the same.

    edit: spelling mistakes

  8. Looks way cooler than GT5. I hate that you can only modify FA cars on it.

In saying that, this doesnt support my G25 and I wouldn't buy an xbox to play it.

^this. If I die after Forza releases a port for PC with G25 compatibility I'll die a happy man. Especially after the big anti-climax that was GT5...

  9. August 2007- june 11 yep sure did. Almost 4 years. Saw so many people though. Were you a rep of mine?

That subaru with the mudflaps took the same exit as me, and then while waiting for ages to turn ii caught up to him. He was turning into CPA....explains it all lol

Nah I was on checkout 2005-2008

  10. yep, beeped at you not sure if you saw me. i was in a silver mondeo in front of you most of the way. i agree about the shocking drivers. the car a few in front of me could not maintain a constant speed!

Yeah yeah I saw you, I thought you were someone else at first lol. You didn't happen to work at svnw a couple of years ago did you? You look strangely familiar. It's funny how the shocking drivers in front of us were both subarus :D

  11. Thought I'd try my luck here before going to a mechanic to tell him "my car is making funny noises, can you fix it?".

    So, symptoms are:

-A scraping/almost squealing noise coming from left rear side of the car

-Only makes the noise up to around 80kmph

-The noise seems to get better after driving at 100kmph for several km's then slowing back down to 50kmph, but the noise is definitely still there..

-Doesn't make the noise at all in reverse regardless of speed

-Only makes the noise under drive and takes a few seconds to go away when I disengage the clutch

-Turning/bumps/road gradient doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference

-Doesn't make the noise when drive wheels are suspended nor when the wheel is spun by hand

I originally thought it could be something rubbing but we've had the wheel and break calliper off and couldn't see any noticeable wear marks under the wheel well or suspension components on that side.

I've had my flatmate who is a mechanic (albeit an apprentice for a Japanese dealership) take a look at it and he can't seem to see what's wrong either.

ANY suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone could recommend a reasonable mechanic in Wellington, that would be good too.

    Cheers Guys!
