  1. Right. Finally sorted it. In case others have a similar problem, here's what I did. Originally, when I plugged it in (at a friends BMW/European specialist workshop) it came up with misfires on cylinder 3 and 5. I put a tank of 98 in it. It started running better. Made me think it could be a fuel/air issue. Replaced air filter. No change. Then I checked the DISA and found the typical problem of the shaft was rounded and turning in the housing. Fixed that and it ran even better. Now with just a slight miss when accelerating of the mark. Plugged it in again. 3 and 5 are fine but cylinder 2 now missing. Cleared the codes. Ran the car for a week to let timing adjust. When the tank was empty, I put 95 back in and still the same. Plugged in again and cylinder 2 still coding as a misfire. Changed the coil pack and viola! Fixed! Ended up being a combination of those things. Funny how the computer at BMW couldn't diagnose all at once but, I got there in the end.
  2. Hi guys. Just worth a note, pulled the DISA off today and found it wasn't opening the flap as it had worn the fitting round. Long story short, repaired, car going better but will have to wait for a couple 100k to know for sure. Fingers crossed.
  3. Hi everyone. I'm a new member but have been browsing this site for sometime now. I own a 2000 E46 330i m.sport. Been having a little trouble lately with a small misfire. I've changed the plugs (NGK) and replaced suspect ignition coils. Taken it to a BMW specialist, cleared the codes. (was misfiring on 3 and 5) test run it and still the same problem. Taken it back, plugged it in and there were no codes. Car has done 140k. I have checked for split intake hoses/pipes found one just after the MAF sensor. Fixed, but that was the only one. I''ve checked all the coils and got a return of 0.7 - 0.8 ohms on each. The check engine light has not illuminated and I'm starting to run out of ideas. I'd appreciate any advice. Cheers, Dan
