Wondering - is it possible to swap out the Japanese Nav drive in my e39 to a Non japanese one? If so, anyone have one? I don't really trust ebay.
-
You lose all the functions of fuel consumption etc....on the dash and you are unable to reset them
GRR - Ok, well I will have to either save up for a Dynavin then
-
its been on there for ages AFAIK. Aint selling any time soon.
At that price I'm hardly surprised.

What is the best way to stop/slow the slight rusting i've got below the filler neck?
-
Ah I see - Well if just fixing the LED/Ribbon is the best way to go about it I shall have to do that.
I've lost almost all the pixels in the trip counter and temp gauge, and a lot in the main display line.
Thanks for all the input guys appreciate it.

Jk southern euro. They're in Newtown. Jon's a good guy, and he's a forum sponsor
Sweet, thanks for the heads up.

Can I buy another dash cluster to swap out my current one which has lots of dead pixels in the OBC display(s)?
I'd also like the standard euro economy guage instead of the awful L/km one.

Haha good job Raerae.
10.1 in Schnitzer Daily driver, spouts of traffic.
10.8L/100km in the M3.
Spirited open road driving with very rare occasion in traffic.
My reading is sitting on 11.1 atm - still getting over the novelty so still heavy footed at times. Love the way my new exhaust sounds - i was also naughty and got a K&N filter... The filter I replaced was FILTHY.
Anyone know a trustworthy mechanic in welly to do my oil and coolant?

Those traffic lights on the motorway can be annoying but they make for a great way to test the cars 0-100 capabilities!
Exactly, same with the ones near whitby haha...
-
I do use cruise control a lot, and tend to waft-accelerate about as I love the growl my new exhaust has at lower-mid RPM.
-
That mainly highway driving? According to the display I can get about ~800 highway driving. But around town most of the time I get around 400 to a tank . e39 530i
Thats all over wellington, plenty of hooning about (only got the car this week, novelty has yet to wear off) in the city, several good hard belting 0-100s along the hutt motorway.

I just got 700km out of my first fill - which considering the size of the engine and weight of the car I think is pretty awesome
Dare I say its better than my H22A prelude was..
What kind of fuel economy do you get from your bimmer?
-
Yea I definitely want to get LEDs for in em. I've found some "non flicker" ones they have capacitors in em or something.
I wish my car would flash lights with the build in alarm/locking. Listening for the "clonks" or looking for the tops move is annoying when walking towards it during the day

Hey guys - me again
Anyone able to recommend some good LED replacements for the incandescent bulbs in my e39s Angeleyes?
Also, anyone have any experience with setting them up as a "always on" DRL?
-
Not the monitor - that is generic to all markets. The Jap Nav unit in the boot i mean - that is what holds the OS...
Ok, so, swapping that out for the Euro spec one will give me the newer software/interface and such?
-
Another thread you were asking on OS upgrade. As I suspected, from above pic, it has a Jap Nav unit in it still. You cannot update the OS in that. Bin it & convert to Euro spec.
Monitor flickering - may just be a glitch. I have seen them do strange things on odd occasions without being a continual issue. Also, as Charles says - it is a 16:9
Yup - I will bin it if its going to be an ass and keep playing up. At the moment it is behaving.
-
Mark was this for upgrading your Mk3 Nav unit to V32 software ?
Don't think it was V32 - but it really f**kin me off LOL. I've since snapped n binned the CDs I burned.
I may be getting a new headunit soon. Mine was doing weird things today
-
Anyone else tried upgrading their software?
I did as instructed by several sites and the system says that the disc is unreadable.
They were US guides, maybe the fact my system is a Jap one may have something to do with it?
-
My headunit is being an ass - its display was flicking like an old busted CRT screen hahah... Its also an old software one I think. Can't find out what version the software is ont he screen anyway by the means i've come across in my searching.
Also, so far, i've gotten almost 400km this week (heheh!!) out of 25ish ltrs

Cool what is your best price.

My new much loved car - my 2002 530i (Jimport).
Haven't done anything to it yet, but all it'll likely get its Tints, a subtle exhaust mod (want some sound) and maybe Mags if I can finally get my hands onto some Style 81s lol.
As usual it has a broken cup holder, the drivers seat squeaks cos i'm fat (apparently wd40 on the rails fixes that?) and It has a 4:3 headunit rather than a 16:9 so trying to rectify that.
Previous bimmers:
1999 e46 328i
1994 e36 320i
Many more pictures to come lol..

Awesome How much for one? You can have my Japanese one if you want/put it towards cost of the euro one.
